Google 'plyometrics' . This is 'jump training' and while you will find a bunch of vertical jump programs for sale, you can learn a lot by researching yourself.

You want to build explosive, powerful actions. There are a lot of pretty simple, effective excercises for these. Calf raises, skipping, step ups, rim jumps, thrust jumps, etc. Coupled with an appropriate weight training program you can add inches to your vertical. The trick is sticking to a program, doing it at maximim intensity, and getting appropriate rest between sets, and workouts.

It is worth investigating.

AIR ALERT DOESNT WORK. dont try it, it will meess up ur knees. PRactising sprint will dramatically increase ur hops. THe less time it takes u to explode the higher u go + longer time in the air. Strech ur calf, hamstrings, and quads for a quik 2-4inches and before u jump exagurate ur last step.

lol, so true, i used air alert. In the middle of it, it messed up my knee and i had to rest it for a week or 2. Hurt every time i walked. Overall, it just gave me like 2-3 inches. Just one work out i did before i got scouted to Rep, i just kept jumping and reach a certain point. I would do it right after i finish shooting around. Do 100 every time u finish playing basketball. I had a 5 inch vertical back then tho (really crap ball player). Now its like 15 inches. Im also a 6 ft 160 pound player now so another thing is try to get a weight off. Its hard for me to do that cause Most of my weight is because of my muscles an bones. I could possibly lose like 5 pounds if i get a six pack so thats really my goal. 4 pack is just too little for me. I might gain 2-5 inches if i did. If i was 140 like most people my height, i would probably have a 20+ vertical. I am only 13 too

Be careful when you start this type of aggressive training. Even plyometrics can stunt your growth if you start too early. The good that you think you are doing at 13 and 14 will cause you more grief when you are older.

Best things you can do now - work on flexibility, balance and diet. Too many athletes start aggressive weight training and avoid recovery and management practices. You need to concentrate on your ankles, quads and knees.

Also, it's painful to see athletes who spend hours of day in the gym and weight room while living off of potato chips, pop and pizza. It's like building a sick custom car and putting in the worst gas you can find.
