Unfortunately Louis Riel will not be coming from Ottawa. They have a couple of players with the flu. Weston has graciously replaced Riel in the draw on very short notice. We wish the Riel girls a speedy recovery so that they can rejoin their team on the journey to AAA OFSAA in London.

I've adjusted the draw.
I'm assuming that the draw remains the same, so Weston will be playing in game 2 vs. Govenor Simcoe.

Which Northern is in this tournament....Toronto or Sarnia?

It should be General Amherst and St. Mary's in the finals.

It's not Northern from Toronto, so I'm assuming it's Northern from Sarnia.

Results of Ram Classic

Post by wizardofweston on Tue Nov 03, 2009 9:22 am

General Amherst won the gold medal 40 to 39 over Waterloo. This was a reverse of the 2008 final in which Waterloo defeated General Amherst 33 to 32. At 72 each for two consecutive gold medal games, I would say these two schools are dead even, and at the top of Ontario. Last year Amherst won the OFSAA AA silver medal. This year they are stepping up to AAA where they should meet Louis Riel in the final, with Sudbury Lockerby and East Elgin probably contesting the bronze medal. St. Anne's won the Ram Classic bronze medal 52-35 over St. Mary's. Mary's were missing two good players, but that does not take away from the performance of St. Anne's in wins over St. Pat's and Northern and a 12 point loss to Amherst in the semi final. They have a young team, but may be contesting for medals at OFSAA. Bishop Macdonell went 3-1 for fifth place and wins over AAAA teams from Westdale and Northern and AAA East Elgin suggest they are poised to capture their second straight OFSAA AA gold medal. Their lone loss was to Amherst. Westdale defeated Etobicoke 54-53 in the consolation final, after thumping Jarvis 61-18 in the consolation semi final. Etobicoke had defeated Holy Trinity 60-57 in OT in the other consolation semi final. Michael Power went 2-2 to finish 11th. They gave Amherst and Westdale good games in losing by 16 and 3 points respectively. Then they finished with wins by 15 over St. Pat's and Oakridge. Teams in the Ram Classic tournament this year have won 26 OFSAA gold medals in past years. There may be three more added to that total this year. However, based on their 4 tournament gold medals at Western, St. Mary's, St. Thomas More and SOSI, Brantford St. John's have to be the favourite for the AAAA OFSAA gold medal in Hamilton in three weeks.

Seems like this tournament had alot of good teams that play at a high level of intensity. Etobicoke still made it to the Consolation round final. I would love to see how Pope and D'Youville would do in tourneys like this.
