Blues-1 Still Has One Opening!!
I will be helping out with Blues-1 this year and was at the tryout this evening.
We have picked up a couple of good kids this year but we have also lost a couple. I do not know the players yet so don't ask who.
We do need players at the 3, 4 and 5 spots and possibly a good guard as well. There are definitely spots open.
Next tryout is Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Wexford C. I. (Pharmacy just north of Ellesmere).
I think we will have a good coaching staff under Coach Grant and we will work hard to develop our players for high school. We were a competitive D-1 team last year.
Tryout fee $20.00 per player. All players receive a reversible jersey and a guaranteed of two (2) tryouts . For school directions or addition information visit www.sbabasketball.ca.

Re: Blues-1 Still Has One Opening!!
We had a reasonable number of kids at the tryouts but it was hardly overwhelming.
Hopefully Saturday will be better attended. Blues are a class organization to play for and we have stood the test of time.
I realize teams come and go but Blues have a strong core of coaches and an outstanding record of achievement at all levels.

So we are primarily hoping to find some size and muscle. If you are interested be at Wexford Collegiate on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
We are looking for 3-5 players but there is also a 2-team and a I'm not sure about a 3-team. We need players.

Re: Blues-1 Still Has One Opening!!
We are still looking for a top PG and a 3-4 type guy.
We would be strong contenders with those additions!

Re: Blues-1 Still Has One Opening!!
Last year we were #7 we want to improve and win a medal!
We have some good pickups. If we fill our spots we have a good shot.

Re: Blues-1 Still Has One Opening!!
It should be appealing....
Put it this way....SBA #1 has produced some of the best ballers at the 1996 age group. This list goes as follows:
- Jordan Hamilton (arguably the best in his age group)
- Brentley Heath
- Jamal Reason
- Temar Hermeilen
- Krish Ghandi
- Isaiah Seetram (prep school)
- Tyler Couchman (one of the best shooters at his age)
- Kaion Grant (one of the best all-around defenders)
These are just to name a few, and all of them have at least one OBA gold medal in their closets...
YOU COULD BE NEXT.....
The last try out is on Wednesday 8pm at David and Mary Thomson.
Good luck...

Re: Blues-1 Still Has One Opening!!
Do the coaches have sons that play on the team... And are the tryouts based on skill, athleteic ability or if some kid's father "knows" the coach?

Re: Blues-1 Still Has One Opening!!
Its not that strange. Things can change.
A lot of players moved on to what they considered "greener pastures".
We still have a good nucleus and with a couple of additions we feel we can be back at the very top. But we will be good no matter what.
We have a good idea of where we could be bolstered a little which is what we have indicated.
Its more of a depth thing we can put a good team on the floor right now! The spots are there we're hoping to find the guys we need.
To answer your next question we will base our decisions on ability. If you can play you can make our team and earn minutes if you cannot you will not!
