The Men's Senior Team is such an EMBARRASSMENT!!!!!!!

Post by BEasy on Sun Aug 30, 2009 10:02 pm

After watching tonight's game versus PR, I sincerely believe that our men's senior program needs a complete overhaul from the top down.....THAT MEANS YOU LEO!!!!!

Im soo pissed off right now. Can we at least have 12 players that play with some heart? Is that too much to ask?

I am not, and never will be embarrassed by players trying their best to represent their country as these team Canada players are, they have made a hugh sacrifice to play on this team and deserve to be treated with respect!

The real problem with this team is a lack of overall talent,we only have 1 NBA player and he is a "role player" that is limited on the offensive end, good shot blocker that plays good defense but as I said limited, ask yourself when was the last time he hit a 12-15 jumper?

The rest of the players are either young and developing or older and limited skill wise,Jesse Young is 29 and has done well and after him things drop off with the forwards.

Most of our guards aren't "run the offense and create for others" English has to have the ball in his hands a lot to be effective but turns the ball over way too much because he usually commits to a play and doesn't have a counter move to go to when his primary option is taken away, poor passing skills also hurt him and several of our players...

Tyler seems to be the best point guard but his size on defense has been a problem,he is a warrior,a skilled small warrior almost always loses to a skilled big warrior!I like his heart and he will only get better but when he is on offense he needs to find our bigs!!! Too many times our guards are looking for perimeter players that can't hit the open jumper,Levon is not a jump shooter so please stop passing to him late in the shot clock standing all alone 18-20 ft from the basket.

Hint: If you find our forwards/players all alone for an "OPEN JUMPER" there is a reason for it.HE CAN'T SHOOT!

Instead of driving and kicking to one of our non shooters how about driving at his man and forcing a backdoor cut,if he gets denied reverse the ball as quickly as possible or skip pass and find someone who can shoot,in general find a way to move the ball without all the standing around...

If coach K was coaching this group...well he wouldn't,he would schedule another hip replacement before he would coach this team with it's limited talent...he has lost games with a roster of all NBA players, just imagine how well confused he would do with only 1 NBA role player.

With the exception of Joel Anthony, none of these guys has an NBA contract. All are basically playing for the pride of representing their country and, perhaps, for the minor benefit of showcasing their talent to land better European contracts.

These guys do deserve our respect and gratitude. They have given up a lot of their time and energy to play on this national team, risking injury for little in return. They gave it everything they had.

There wasn't enough depth on this team to deal with that compressed schedule. Had Steve Nash and an inspired Sam Dalembert played, even 25 minutes a game, each, that would have probably produced some different results. Would we have qualified. Who knows. Maybe. But Dalembert couldn't get along with the coach and Nash, rightfully so, wants to rest his tricky back in the summers.

The guys who did play did what they could. But we didn't have a good matchup for Santiago and Peter John Ramos, two legitimate 7 foot 2 guys. And Anderson played too many minutes at the point, without much ballhandling help from the 2 guards, who were more focussed on firing up three pointers.

Father Time summarized the issues well above. Who am I to argue with Father Time? :-)

I wasn't impressed with our offensive schemes in this tournament. I never understood why Triano, who had an extensive international coaching resume, was asked to leave. Our loss is Team USA's gain.

The next set of young guys, presently entering university, will be the future of the team. There is some talent there and potential.

Simple = LACK OF TALENT.

Yes they try hard, but they ain't that good. Bring in Coach K = same result.

Gotta keep developing the young talent (send'em to the states for a polish) bring'em back.

We have serious talent coming up. I would rather lose with these guys then put out some no-name maybe played a few minutes in D1 guys.
