Canada wins 67, Argentina 57. C.Joseph had 20 points. Not sure what happens now?? Great win Argentina won the Americas U18 last year, and beat Canada by 10

Spain beat Canada... Argentina beat Spain... Canada beat Argentina.

As it stands... Spain Argentina and Canada finish with a 3-3 record.

4 teams from the group advance... Croatia and Australia already guaranteed their spot.

Not sure what decides the tie breaker... but if it's head to head point differential against the three tied teams then Canada is behind Argentina and ahead of Spain... meaning they would advance... and if it's overall point differential then Canada is ahead of both Argentina and Spain.

So it looks good UNLESS I missed something... which I certainly don't hope I did.

Way to go boys... keep pluggin away.

Just saw the updated standings on the Fiba website.

They have listed Canada 3rd, and Spain 4th, and Arg 5th in Group F

Meaning Canada plays Greece in the quarters.

Canada plays USA tomorrow in the quarters. Winner goes to 1-4 round and the loser goes to the 5-8 classification.

It will be played early tomorrow morning. There are certainly no easy matchups for anyone from this point forward!

Other scores:

Puerto Rico 99 Egypt 71
Spain 101 Kazakhstan 71
Greece 76 France 72
Canada 67 Argentina 57
Australia 79 Croatia 74
USA 76 Lithuania 69

"Meaning Canada plays Greece in the quarters."

Sorry for that folks! I just gathered that notion from the standings on the FIBA website.

I think this Canada team is peaking at the right time... and all the pressure is on the US. Keep things close and the US will tighten up. Cory will carry the team.

I sense a major upset!

ANyone know why we were placed 4th and Argentina 3rd.

After all... we ended up with the same record... we beat them head to head... and we had a positive point differential of 70 compared to 15 for them.

How did this placing happen?

petro,

Here is my understanding:

Argentina beat Spain by 17 and lost to Canada by 10. +7
Canada beat Argentina by 10 but lost to Spain by 7. +3
Spain beat Canada by 7 but lost to Argentina by 17 -10

Found this on the website.

A three pointer on the final buzzer from Kelly Olynk would have moved Canada to third place in Group F. It missed, and Canada finish fourth and now face the USA in a knockout quarter final on Friday at the North Shore Events Centre.

Because had it gone Canada would be +6 and Argentina +4

Kudos for your call on an upset. I hope you're right! pale

We have some damn good players and good players can beat some people!

Greece is putting a pretty good licking on Argentina.

Lithuania is in the classification round and they're pretty damn good too!

I'm thinking that pool may be stronger but that does not preclude Canada upsetting U.S.A. Canada has struggled a little but hopefully are starting to roll now!

Coach...how is Tristan playing, or is he still suffering from the injury? And who do we have starting out there. I know that Kelly O, Magnisto A, Tristan T, Corey J and another solid banger would be a solid starting line up! Who else is on this roster???

I don't think Tristan is up-to-speed. His minutes have been down but slowly getting back to normal. Cory and Kelly have been outstanding as well as Arop. Mike Allison has been solid as has Marc Trasolini. It also seems that Jordan Baker has game. Rob Gagliardi has been up and down a little and Ty Nurse has had his moments.

All in all Cory has been probably the player who has stepped up the most I would say. He's definitely one of the top PG's in the entire tournament. But then its hard to tell when you're not seeing live video.

Thanks coach! Well, I would really like for thwm to pull off an upset! Especially against the USA! That would be historical...and most definetly motivational for the movement of Canada Basketball. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

93-73 A pretty convincing win for the U.S.A. I'm sure our guys must have given it everything they had.

Nice to see Tristan bounce back from his injury to lead Canada in defeat with 18. Kelly Olynyk 14 and Cory Joseph with 9 continued their strong production for the Canadians.
Gordon Hayward led the U.S. with 20 followed by Howard Thompkins and Seth Curry with 12 apiece

So, where does this leave us now? And coach, was still wondering about the Grade 7&8 Clinic that had started but had to get put on ice for a bit? When will or will it be starting up? I thought it was a great idea, especially for development!
