2009 NBA Draft - Point Guards

Post by RealBall on Fri Apr 10, 2009 9:23 am

This years NBA Draft is Jam-Packed with quality Point Guards (and combo guards)....

Ricky Rubio (Spain)
Ty Lawson (UNC)
Tyreke Evan (Memphis)
Patrick Mills (St. Marys)
Sherron Collins (Kansas)
Tony Douglas (Florida St)
Tyrece Rice (Boston C.)
Darren Collison (UCLA)
Jonny Flynn (Syracuse)
Eric Maynor (VCU)
Brandon Jennings (Italy)
Jeff Teague (Wake Forest)
Stefan Curry (Davidson)
Willie Warren (Oklahoma)
Cedric Jackson (Cleveland St)

Wow, this is the most loaded draft for pointguards...maybe ever.
(If all of these players declare).

I'm wondering whats the Top 3 in order?
1.
2.
3.

My Top 3
1. Ty Lawson
2. Eric Maynor
3. Tyreke Evans/Jonny Flynn

I'm unsure about Ricky Rubio. Everyone is talking about him, but how will his game translate to the NBA? Young Euro Point Guards seem to take at least a few years to adjust.
I think Eric Maynor is going to be a steal in the mid-late 1st round.
And I think its a toss up between Flynn and Evans for 3rd best prospect.

Clearly, you dont know much about basketball...Ricky Rubio will be the #1 pick from all these point guards, guaranteed! Basketball is not only played in the USA, in fact the rest of the world! Go check some of Ricky's accomplishments and then get back at me. Pro basketball in Europe is not easy like you think, in fact some of the pro teams in Europe can be one of the best teams in the league...

Ricky Rubio's game will translate well into the NBA, he has perhaps not only the best potential, but also his game, if one watches closely enough suits better for the NBA style. His scoring numbers will be better in the NBA then they were in Europe, just based on how he plays and the rules in Europe which favor different defenses then the NBA.

Before I made my post I researched mock-drafts for 2009 and Ricky Rubio was not listed so im basing my list with rubio not there... some basketball analysis say he is going into the 2010 draft and some are saying that he wants in the 2009 draft. If he is in the 2009 draft, then yeah hes definitely going top 3, if not and he goes into the 2010 draft he'll be go 1 or 2 overall with john wall.

I think Brandon Jennings and Ricky Rubio are the X-Factors.

All these other guards played NCAA so we got to see them play.
Since these 2 guards played Pro Europe its hard to determine how they'll do in the NBA.
But they realistically could be the 1st two guards picked in the Draft.

How about Stephan Curry?

Hes the best shooter and probably the best scorer on this list. But even though he's 6'2 he does not have a NBA body.

Will he be a player or a bust?
