There has been several cases of first prep options not working out and it's constantly being updated, but here is a list of everyone I know of right now at US schools and the new "REDA" program in Hamilton.

I wonder about Xavier Rathan-Mayes Gr. level. He shows as Gr. 8 but he would be Gr. 10 here in Canada.

I know that kids are often re-classified but that seems like a stretch.

For Xavier, I put the last time he was at a Canadian school, it was for Grade 8. He is entering his second year of prep school now. Last year, he attended Cheshire in Connecticut. He transferred to Hillhouse this year (and also re-classified to the Class of 2013).

Wow BJH and Coach C, that's a very long list.

Pretty breathtaking when you see the volume of players that have left and gone to the U.S. Definitely there are some changes that need to be made here at home to counteract this trend.

REDA stands for Regional Elite Development Academy (formerly known as NEDA) based out of Hamilton. The difference in the program this year is that the program is privately funded rather than getting funding from Basketball Canada, although the program is still endorsed by them. The change in name from NEDA to REDA is to reflect the regional nature of the program with all players being from Ontario this year instead of guys from across Canada.

Coach Philippe, no trend needs to be counteracted. The long list you see is actually beneficial for the majority of those kids. Half of them have waisted there time in high school putting up numbers but unable to do the same in the classroom. Can we blame some of these kids for not being intellectual enough to do both, not at all, especially with the Canadian school system as tough as it is. The best judgment will be down the road, when we will be able to see whether or not the majority of that list ended up with degrees. Sports in the US is the easiest way to earn a degree, so them following that trend is not bad at all. Let the kids enjoy themselves and get away from all this Canadian hype. No matter how they get ranked in the US, they will end up finishing their education.
