KingNation – home of the Northern Kings and the Northern Knights boys basketball teams - will be holding tryouts for our Juvenile OBA team (players born in 1996) and our Junior OBA team (players born in 1995 & 1994).

The teams will be lead by returning coaches Sharif Musah and Steve Morrison. Sharif was a Toronto City All-Star at Father Henry Carr. Steve was Toronto High School Player of the Year at Bathurst Heights; a member of the Canadian Senior National Team and a scholarship player at Weber State University (D1) who played in the NCAA tournament in his senior year.

The initial tryout dates are as follows:

September 17th 8-10:30pm Ellesmere Community Center
September 23rd 7-10pm Crescent School (Upper Gym – left entrance - red door)
Septemebr 25th 6-8pm Ellesmere Community Center

    Ellesmere Community Center
    20 Canadian Rd
    (Ellesmere & Warden)

    Crescent School
    2365 Bayview Ave
    (Bayview & Lawrence)

Other try-out dates will be added if necessary.

Please wear a numbered jersey or t-shirt. A tryout fee of $5 will apply to all participants except for returning players. Northern Kings dry fit t-shirts will be available for $15.

Last year’s Juvenile teams had a successful summer on the AAU Circuit, advancing to the finals of the Platinum division at the Las Vegas Fab48, as well as strong showings at the Adidas Invitational and USA Bluegrass Classic tournaments.
The teams are each planning to play in 4-6 OBA tournaments and selected NPSAA and AAU events. The teams will practice and take part in skills development generally once per week (weekend) during the school season and ramp up activity in the early spring. Both teams are expected to compete at the D1 level in the OBA.

Players will be given a great opportunity to improve their skills under one of the best coaching staffs in Ontario, as well as gain exposure to CIS and NCAA coaches, and be a part of one of the most well-known organizations in Canadian amateur basketball.
