The U12 Talent Identification and Development Program (TIDP) delivers age-specific basketball development through regional training sessions and a four day overnight basketball camp with kids from across Ontario.

The program provides a training environment for athletes 12 and under (Learn to Train Stage). Regional training sessions are designed to introduce the athletes to basic basketball skills and fundamental movement skills in a fun and inclusive environment. The program is run as a three stage process.

    Stage 1 - Open Tryouts
Open tryouts will be held in the region in which the athletes live.  Tryouts are FREE and open to athletes born in 2004 and 2005.  From these tryouts, 30 athletes will be selected.  You can view the regional breakdown by clicking below link. (or cut/paste to browser)

    Stage 2 - Regional Training
The 30 athletes selected to represent their region will train together for 30 hours. These hours will focus on age-specific training implemented by top coaches in the region. These coaches will be using a curriculum designed by Ontario Basketball that respects the Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) Model and combines fun and learning. Near the end of the 30 hours of training, ten athletes will be selected to attend the U12 Talent Identification and Development Camp at Georgian College in the month of July. Cost for Regional Training: $300.00

    Stage 3 - Camp
The athletes selected to participate in the four day overnight U12 Talent Identification and Development Camp at Georgian College (10 from each region) have an opportunity to compete against the best in their age category and receive exposure to high performance coaching drills and team concepts. The focus at this stage of development is teaching athletes the principles of team play (i.e. conceptual understanding) through FIBA 3 x 3. In addition to game play, athletes are exposed to guest sessions presented by high performance coaches from the basketball community, ranging from provincial team coaches to strength and conditioning specialists. Cost for Overnight Camp: $375.00
