BIG TOURNAMENT

The 6:30 game between Father Goetz and Ascension should be a great matchup. Father goetz has been one of the top teams in the province for the last few years and this will be a statement game for Ascension. The winner of this game should play D'Youville in the final with D'Youville winning the championship.

I would argue that the best team (d'Youville) is on the top side of the draw and the next three best teams are on the bottom side of the draw.

I agree with you on that point. I feel that the Goetz-Ascension winner from the bottom part of the draw will beat the winner of the Campion-Xavier game and play D'Youville for the championship

Campion should beat Xavier easily. While the Tigers are improved this year, their lopsided loss to Carmel today proves that they are still not close to the level at which they used to play a few years ago when they went to OFSAA four seasons in a row.

Campion might surprise the Goetz-Ascenion winner. They return a lot of talent from last season, added a strong player from Toronto, and have a lot of depth.

That being said, they can give d'Youville the championship trophy right now.

I think Loyola (Oakville) might surprise some people. I'm not saying that they will beat d'Youville, but I don't think it's a cake walk for d'Youville to the final. I read that Loyola defeated Notre Dame (Burlington) the other day. I know the Notre Dame lost Missy to NEDA, but that's still a big win for Loyola.

Ascension is good but a lot of it has to do with Goetz taking a big step backwards, too. Apparently the new coach has told a few people that this will be a rebuilding year.

what happened in the second half?

Actually it wasn't the second half...it was the fourth quarter. Ascension had a 30-25 lead going into the fourth. Ascension ran out of gas and d'Youville was fueled by theAscension turnovers and the energy of the crowd.

If I remember correctly Michelle Asare played at St. Basils.

Her presence would drastically influence Ascension's fortunes.

d'Youville outscores Ascension 30 - 7 in the fourth quarter.....wow.

The fourth quarter shows that D'youville is still the best team in the GTA and why they will be hard to beat - incredible depth in their lineup.

As for Ascension, they will surely be a favourite to reach the Peel final after dismantling Goetz and Campion. The team has 5 new players and they have only had two full practices! They will get better as they learn to play together and handle the pressure of big games (they obviously lost their composure in that fourth quarter). With two players of the calibre of Christine Hyde and Michelle Asare they will certainly look to go far into AA OFSAA.
