Thanks to everyone involved in the 6th edition of the Xavier Senior Rimrocker, especially Rob Tucci and Mount Carmel, Dave Tucci, Gagan Seron and Lyanda Jackson at St. Francis Xavier, and all the volunteers at the two schools. Thanks to all the coaches, players, and fans who helped make this a great three days of basketball.

I see Either Oakwood, Campion or Notre Dame (Ajax) in the finals

Looks like a deep line-up. The final will be harder to predict than previous years.

Tart, Marcellinus won their division as juniors two years ago, ahead of Xavier and Goetz, and made it to the final four of Peel. They are definitely a program on the rise.

While I think Oakwood and Campion are the early favourites, I think that at least 10 of the teams have a realistic chance of making the final four, depending on the groups.

Don't sleep on Mount Carmel. A LOT of Peel coaches are talking about them as the second favourite in Peel, behind Campion.

are the two out of town teams ND Welland and St.Theresa's Midland gonna be good?

ND Welland was an OFSAA Final Four team last year. Im gonna say they at the least will be competitive. If you saw them play last year, you would see that they may have been the most disciplined and patient team in Ontario. They had no problem taking 1 minute to score a basket. There defence was also very solid.

I think Campion might win it

Oakwood will win it more than likely. I'm interested to see if Notre Dame (Welland) has most of their squad returning. They finished fourth at QUAD A Ofsaa behind Eastern, Mother Teresa and Pickering. That team just locked everyone on the defensive end and beat high powered teams like West Hill last year in the tournament. If there team is intact, then watch out for them as well.

Oakwood has been forced to withdraw due to an inflexible league convenor. They have been replaced by Notre Dame (Brampton). We are now one team short of an all-Notre Dame division for the Rimrocker.

Metro Prep has filled the vacancy that was created when Downsview was forced to withdraw.

should get some more top 10 teams in this itll be good still but not as string as usual in terms of top 10 teams

regaredless of the lack of top 10 teams there will be great games throughout the pools

FX vs Ascension, Carmel vs Campion, Carmel vs Marcelinus are games that could play a part in the Peel Playoff seedings.

Some people seem to think that organizers just snap their fingers and all the top coaches come calling. Have a look at the thread and you'll see that there were more ranked teams in it originally but they dropped out. I don't know about Downsview but I heard that Oakwood didn't bother requesting the dates off from league play. I guess when you're a top team you just sign up for every tournament and drop the ones that don't fit the schedule.

I remember that a lot of teams did that back in the 80s when I was coaching. Great teams or not, many of them soon found themselves with empty weekends they couldn't fill in later seasons as word spread between organizers.

My picks in each group:

Group A: Ascension first in a close battle over Xavier.
Group B: Notre Dame and Notre Dame. Welland first and Bampton second.
Group C: Campion first and Carmel second.
Group D: The closest group. I think J. Clarke squeaks by D'Youville.

Consolation:

Xavier over D'Youville and Carmel gets revenge on Brampton ND.
Xavier over Carmel in the latest Battle of the Tucci's.

Championship:

Ascension beats J. Clarke and Campion beats Welland ND.
Welland ND wins bronze.
Campion wins gold.

I think the winner out of the Group D opening game between D'youville and J Clarke Richardson will take the tournament. The Loser of that game will win the consolation championship. It will be an interesting match up! J Clarke is a top 10 team and D'youville is in search of a signature win this year to put them on the map. D'youville is much better than given credit so far so it should be a great game.

As for group B...the Notre Dame division and Metro Prep...to bad they could not get Notre Dame (Burlington) to round it out. You could have the Notre Dame Bowl..LOL
