Is this how AAU works for you?

Here's how the SCAM works..

They tell you everything you want to hear, how things are fair, playing time etc.
Rules about attending practices, or you won't play,, etc All good stuff.

Then game day come around, your excited, your son is excited...

and 2-3 kids who haven't been at any of the practices over the last couple of months show up
and play 80-90% of the time, while 9-10 other kids are lucky to even step on the court.

When you approach them ask about it, they tell you , that your son "needs to develop"
How can any development take place with out game time?

Who are these kids that showed up today?

What you get then is line of B.S. and you figure out that everything they told you is half true.

They'll tell you kid isn't studying the playbook, then you find out they didn't have enough playbooks for everyone.

There a lot of GOOD AAU organizations out there, This ISN'T one of them.

Pretty much boils down to, they already have a team, "Their team"

All the other kids are just a payment or paycheck, they don't care if you stay or go.

Bluecheese, you write in your post "this isn't one of them". What organization are you refering to?

Bluecheese, I just wanted to thank you for the book recommendation. I picked - up 'Play Their Hearts Out' at the library and couldn't put it down. Should be required reading for any parent who has a child into any sport, not just basketball.

Are you going to tell us who the organization is that you mentioned in the inital post?

Would really like to know what club or clubs you are talking about??? There are some good ones out there... no doubt some definite shady ones as well...
