The Hoopstars rankings have high quality players from every position but it's difficult to compare or judge that way.
Thomas report separates them by playing position so it's easier to agree or disagree.
Does Hayes provide rankings by positions on his subscription service? Does anyone get this service that could give us a peek?
For the sake of arguement, I'd really like to compare the two reports and how close (or far apart) the rankings are.

I will be releasing an updated National rankings in January on the HoopStars Canada website for the public. Rankings by Position will be included for the Class of 2009. A look at the 2010 and 2011 Classes will be included as well.

Kelly Olynyk is currently in grade 12 at South Kamloops H.S. in BC and will graduate this year.

    Is Kelly not attending NEDA?

Yes he is, or at least that's what the NEDA web site says.

I'd heard NEDA was only one semester this year. Lack of funding cut the program short for this year and don't be surprised if it's gone for next. Word out of Hamilton is that the money and support just isn't there. It was a great idea but like most national type programs, many of the best players opted out.
Players will be returning to their high schools in the second semester where I believe transfer rules won't be an issue, so they can play if they want to.

Kelly returned to his high school for the start of his high school's basketball season. The plan is he will return to NEDA at the conclusion of his high school season (~ March).

Does that include returning to the Hamilton high school as well? That seems a little strange and disruptive to his academics as he'd be coming back in the middle of the semester.
I can see him returning to the NEDA team and meeting up with them for the tournaments though.

I don't think anyone else from NEDA can play for their high school team. This was arranged specially for Kelly. He is a 95% student, so he should be able to handle the transition back and forth.

Kelly is very hard to pinpoint in terms of position. He has great size and length but the skill set of a guard.

He has often been listed as a shooting guard and is a good shooter with good range.

He has great basketball instincts and makes his teammates better.

I recall hearing about Mike Allison from NEDA playing at the OBA's for the club Blessed Sacrament. I understood that it was made clear to participants that all high school and rep ball was not an option for players in NEDA. Quite a few NEDA players would have played for their old rep teams had they known there were "special circumstances" and were understandably upset that they were left out of the loop.
I don't agree with special treatment for some players and not all. It reeks of cronyism, given the family connections to Basketball Canada and it just might be a good arguement for why this program is suffering.
I will assume that all NEDA players, if they choose to, would be allowed the same rights if they wanted?
