Hello Athletes and Coaches who may know athletes who may be interested,

I am the Head Coach of the OBA TIDP U16 Boys Program for the Mountain Region. If there happens to be players who are eligible to play in the Mountain region (must live there) who frequent this site I invite you to tryout for this year’s TIDP U16 Boys team. Players must be born in 1998 or 1999. Players who make the team will compete in the 2014 Ontario Summer Games on August 7th – 10th, in Windsor. Program Details:
The U16 Talent Identification and Development Program (TIDP) is designed to provide a training environment for athletes aged 15 and 16 (Train to Compete Stage). The U16 TID program is designed to develop athletes in preparation for the next level of competition including the provincial and national team programs. From open tryouts15 athletes are selected and train for 30 hours in a regional training pod. Through the regional training athletes are introduced to all of the technical (acquisition and consolidation specialized skills) and strategic (acquisition and consolidation of specialized tactics) components of the game. At this stage the main objective is to learn how to compete under any circumstance.

The Talent Identification and Development Program (TIDP) delivers age specific basketball development through regionalized training sessions and a four day basketball camp with kids from all over Ontario.

Athletes are evaluated throughout the program and provided with a “report card” identifying the strengths and area of their game which require improvement based on the benchmarks for an athlete of this age.

Stage 1 – Tryouts Cost: $25.00 – Register and Pay by Cash at the Try-out (No Cheques)
Open tryouts will be held in the region in which the athletes live.  Tryouts are open to athletes born in 1998 and 1999.  There is a fee for the tryout and each athlete will receive a Nike t-shirt and the opportunity to tryout with other elite athletes in the region.  MOUNTAIN REGION (Hamilton, Dundas, Ancaster, Stoney Creek) East of 52 to 407; South of 5 to hwy 6; East of Highway 6 to 25; South of 401 to 407 (not Burlington)

    Stage 2 - Final Tryout
A number of athletes selected from the open tryouts will be invited to a final tryout which again is hosted in the region which the athletes live. At the conclusion of this tryout, 15 athletes will be selected to represent their region.

    Stage 3 - Regional Training Cost: $300.00
The 15 athletes selected to represent their region will train together for 30 hours leading up to the final stage. At some point within this period three athletes will be identified as alternates. All training will also take place within the region the athletes live.

Stage 4 - 2014 Ontario Summer Games (OSG) Cost: $375.00
The final stage of the U16 Talent Identification & Development Program consists of all regions coming together to compete as a team at the centralized  camp or competing in Summer Games where the athletes will receive exposure to elite coaching drills and team concepts. In addition to some game play, the athletes are exposed to guest sessions performed by keynote speakers from the basketball community.

Good luck to all athletes, and I hope to see you there.
