This year's draw is one of the strongest tournaments in the province with Toronto St. Michael, Thornlea Thornhill, Oakville Holy Trinity, Durham Pine Ridge, Windsor Catholic Central, the Quebec provincial champions Stanstead, Hamilton Cathedral London Beal, London John Paul II, Sarnia St. Patrick, Kitchener Resurrection, Lakeshore St. Annes, Sault Ste. Maire Korah, London Banting, Windsor Holy Names and Chatham Kent in the top Flight.  The second flight is also a very good draw with Windsor Kennedy, Chatham McGregor, Sarnia Northern, Brampton St. Roch, Windsor St. Joseph, Leamington Cardinal Carter, Windsor Assumption and London Mother Teresa.

The tournament is being run out of 6 gyms.  St. Clair College has built a new $28 million athletic complex with three full courts as well as their original gym.  http://www.stclaircollege.ca/sportsplex/

Academie St. Cecile, which is just around the corner from St. Clair has new athletic complex with two full size courts.

This year's tournament is a 24 team tournament.  The top 16 teams are in Flight 1 and the next 8 teams are in Flight 2.

Thanks to Dr. Pat Smith, the tournament is also providing a free banquet on Friday night for all coaches and players at the Caboto Club.  The guest speaker is Eric Hipple, former NFL quarterback for the Detroit Lions.  The theme is "Stigma Enigma".  Suicide is the number two cause of death among teens after auto accidents.  Eric Hipple has authored a book "Real Men Do Cry".  It is an inspiring true story of how his life went into a downward spiral after the tragic suicide of his 15 year old son and  he found the strength to seek therapy for his own depression and was able to make an amazing comeback.

Dr. Pat Smith's also tragically lost a nephew and niece to suicide.  He has taken up the cause to raise awareness among teens and to push to get more funding for mental health.  I can't thank Dr. Pat Smith and entire Smith family for their dedication to this cause and allowing me and the Freeds Tournament to also help.

All players will receive a "Stigma Enigma" t-shirt.  If you are watching online, you will see the logo in the gyms, on the players and on the webcast as well as messages to promote this cause.

What is going on with Thornlea? They lost both of their games. St. Annes beat them 48-44 and Banting beat them 50-44. There is definitely a story there.
