We will pick the top 20 players and split them into 2 teams. They will play in the TOP 20 game.
Then we will take the next 20 players (players 21-40) and split them into 2 teams. They will play in the TOP 40 game.

Teams are not based on which region they are from, or what division they played in.

I think it would be better if you did North ( Brampton/ Caledon) vs South ( Mississauga). Also make it an anual event.

We are not in it to create rivalries.
This is a celebration of basketball in the Region of Peel, by having the best players compete against eachother.

At the end of the day the score shouldn't matter.

This is one opportunity for players to get "exposure" in our own backyard.

There is nothing wrong with a clean rivalry. The Rivalary is already there amongst the players. They all know what school they go to and where they live. They all feel that where they go to school is better. Also, it may bring more fans in the building who know who to cheer for.

By making it a dvisional all star game you are still celebrating basketball in the Peel Region. When you have a bunch of High School All Stars playin against each other the score will always matter. You will def. still be giving players " exposure".

What happens if you have a two or more players on the league team make the top 20 all star team? Will you try to keep them together or will you split it up based on skill? ex. Campion guards and Byron, Dyouville's starting line up, Loyolas has 3 guys who could make it, etc... How will you be splitting the teams?

As a fan of Peel basketball I would rather watch a rivalry. They did it a couple years ago at Humber College and I enjoyed watching that game.

The schools listed below have still NOT nominated anyone. If you played for one of these schools and you are interested in trying out, talk to your coach.

    Bramalea
    Clarkson
    Iona
    Gordon Graydon
    Brampton Christian

Tryout information will be sent out to Peel coaches on March 5 via email. If you have been nominated ask your coach WHEN and WHERE the tryouts are.

Tryouts are closed to the public so I will not provide any tryout information here or on who got nominated.

College/University coaches and media interested in attending the tryouts can email me for information at:
    elias.pahis@peelsb.com

April 9 at Sheridan College in Brampton
    6 pm-Top 40 game
    8 pm-Top 20 game

A student has just moved into Peel on March 1st and is attending a school(Harold Braithwaite) but obviously did not recieve a nomination due to when he arrived. Can anything be done in this situation? Could he get an oppurtunity to earn a try out for this team? He is in grade 11 and led all seniors in the TDSB in scoring at his previous school(Jean Vanier). Please respond either way.

Sorry he can't tryout because the All Star teams are for students who competed in the senior division in the region of Peel this year.

I am sure we'll see him at next year's tryouts.

Man Dyouville has a good 6 players that could probably make the top 20.

    Campion has 4.

Tough decisions for the coaches. Who do you snubb?

Obviously teams that win ROPSSAA have more talent then other teams.

With regards to the 3 player max rule: There are 54 senior teams in Peel if we had open tryouts we'd have groups of friends showing up to the tryouts. Surely you can understand that we can't have a tryout with 100 people at once. We have to regulate the amount of athletes that will tryout.

This is an issue that will be looked at for next year, that's for sure.

so how many try outs will there be? It looks like there will be more than 100 people trying out if there are 54 teams and a 3 player max rule.

Wow! How long is it been since the stopped the North vs South All-Star game in Peel region??? I was a former Peel All-Star back in the day...still have my North Jersey framed...that was a big rivalry and a great all-star game. They would then pick 12 players from both North and South and form the All-Peel Region Team that would face Toronto Selects and other region. Oh well, new time, new era I guess!
