But in the past they have only taken a minimal number of Gr. 8's - like one or two.
What you are saying makes sense and you return players the following year who have experience at the national level. They also have a headstart on what you want to run at both ends of the court. As a high school coach I always try to think at least one year down the road.
I'm not sure that thinking applies at the Provincial level. I have faith in the coaches we have in place however and I'm sure they will make a good decision.

Typically they have had either one or no grade 8 on the team. Coach from years ago decided to go with some youth on the roster and had outstanding grade 8's. Kevin PAngos, Jermayne Myers, Martin Dixon-Green, Richard peters and Juwan Brescacin.
It may have cost them a gold medal but it did help them prepare for the following year. Several of those players were immediately scooped up by club teams the following year and decided to play AAU rather than to work on their skill development of the provincial program.
