I want to thank all the teams, coaches, teachers, officials, fans and volunteers for making this one of the best tournaments ever at Father Henry Carr. There were some very exciting games..some highs, and some lows...and in my opinion, this FHC "A"-Pickering final was one of the most exciting games I have ever witnessed. (and the FHC "B" comeback win over Oakwood ranks up there as well!)
Congratulations to the 5th Place Brebeuf Bulls, the 4th place Mother Teresa Titans, the bronze medalist Vaughan Voyaguers, the silver medalist Pickering Trojans, and the Champions..the Father Henry Carr Crusaders!
A special congratulations to the All Stars: Dinjyl Walker (Vaughan), Brandon Tull (Pickering), Mikyle McIntosh (Pickering), Kaleefah Henry (FHC "A"), Shaquille Woodcock (FHC "A"), and the MVP..Aaron Emmanuel (FHC "A), one of the most talented and gentlemanly student athletes I have ever taught!
Thank you for continued support of Father Henry Carr basketball. The Crusaders wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Regards,
Coach Melnik

No disrespect taken. My statement is not biased, it is my opinion. If you were at both of those games you would know what I am talking about. They were the 2 most exciting games of the tournament, regardless of who was playing.

Coach Melnik - want to say thanks for a great tournament. I have to agree with you that the Championship game betwee FHC and Pickering was one of the best championship games I've watched. I think I lost my voice with all the cheering I did.

I only made it to the final game with Henry Carr A vs. Pickering.
That game was very exciting and was a close match till the very end, with Pickering getting a clear look at a three-point shot to tie it up in the dying seconds, but unfortunately for Pickering, it rimmed out!! The crowd was hyped, especially with it being a home game for Carr, however there was still a good crowd for Pickering. Henry Carr's new gym has a good atmosphere for games.....the place gets loud, and the gym is brand new.... I especially liked the music they played at the end when Henry Carr finally won the game.... and the spectators rushed the floor and were dancing on the court. It was nice to see that kind of interest & excitement in high school basketball.

Thanks very much for the kind words! I really enjoyed myself. I was so proud of both FHC teams but I was even more proud of the volunteers at the scorers table, the concession stand, and the gate. Lastly, the crowd was phenomenal! Students, athletes, friends, teachers and parents from FHC and Pickering were loud and cheered in a positive way. This has quickly become a very heated but friendly rivalry and that intensity and respect was very evident.
I really was very happy with the atmosphere that Rick alluded to. By the way, that music is our school song. The Principal, Mr Rossetti, sings it on the PA every Friday afternoon and at every assembly.
Again, Happy Holidays!
Regards,
Coach Melnik
