Jermel Kennedy has signed a basketball scholarship with the Iowa Central Tritions of the NJCAA for the 2008-2009 season. Kennedy, a former star at Lincoln Alexander Secondary School in Malton, will begin school in September and start training immediately with the Triton's squad under Head Coach Dennis Pilcher.
Kennedy, a 6ft-5 small forward averaged 18ppg this past season for Lincoln Alexander and was also the team's MVP. He is expected to play the shooting guard and small forward spots where he'll provide some size, athleticism and scoring to the Triton line up.
The varsity team begins exhibition play in late October, culminating in an appearance at the Northeast Nebraska Classic Tournament in Norfolk, Nebraska on November 7th & 8th. The ICCC Tritons begin league play on November 12th at home against William Penn University Statemen JV team.
Kennedy plans to study Graphics Technology at Iowa Central Community College.
