13 teams are now out due to work action and only a portion of the spots have been filled. Right now, we have 24 confirmed teams and a couple on the fence. I have contingency plans for a 24, 26, 28, 30 or 32 team tournament but I need to settle on one by the end of the weekend. So any coaches who are considering joining the tournament need to contact me right away or they will find themselves unable to join once the number of spaces is set. The details are as follows:
The tournament is Jan 10-13 and is held at St. Francis Xavier, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Philip Pocock, and St. Marguerite D'Youville. The cost is $350 with all teams guaranteed a minimum of three games (all played at the same school), with the possibility of up to 7 games over 4 days.
The schedule is as follows...
Jan 10: One game after school
Jan 11: Two games; one during school and one after school
The top 2 teams in each of the 8 groups advance to the playoffs on the weekend
Jan 12: Round of 16 games in the morning/afternoon and quarter-finals in the afternoon/evening
Jan 13: Semi-finals in the morning and bronze and gold medal matches in the afternoon
The winning team will receive a trophy and both teams in the finals will receive medals and t-shirts. The bronze medal team also received medals while the 4th to 8th place teams receive ribbons. There is a trophy for the MVP as well as t-shirts for the MVP and 10 all-stars, chosen from the final 8.
