At the mid-season point, I would like to provide an update on the Vaughan S.S. Basketball Program.
For the 3rd season in a row, Vaughan has managed to stay true to its long and successful basketball tradition.
Our Senior program remains strong and competitive and our Junior program is trying to build and learn from each season. We would like to welcome the addition of Coach Saleh to the Sr. Program. Played for the Egyptian National Team and played for Milliken Mills Sr. program the year they went to 'AAAA' OFSAA. We would also like to welcome to the family Coach Paul from CanSix rep basketball program and the former coach at Jean Vanier.
His skill set, enthusiasm and commitment to the players skill development is a welcomed addition.
The Juniors for the 2nd season in a row are playing in 6 tournaments:
This season results:
Vaughan S.S.Classic (Champions over Dunbarton)
Eastern Commerce Tourney (Finalists)
M.T. Tourney (Finalists)
Carr Tourney (Bronze medalists)
Rimrocker (???)
SBA (???)
In league we are 5-0 with a very tough win over St. Jean de Brebeuf to put us in the #1 pool of four teams.
Our overall record to date is 20 wins & 2 losses (Carr A by 2 and Carr A by 6).
The Sr. program is headed to Montreal this weekend to participate for the 2nd year in a row at the "Sun Youth Tournament" and 4 juniors will join them for this competitive experience.
Dinjiyl Walker, Roshane Roberts, Aiddian Walters and Cy Richards Samuels.
At this time, we would like to thank all the parents, admin, staff, custodians, students, alumni, Vaughan and Richard at the Dufferin Clark Community Centre and all the coaches (BJC & St. Davids) for their time and support to the program. Happy Holidays.
Time to rest and relax, before you know it....playoffs.
