The seedings are set and there weren't any major surprises. Here are one person's predictions.
1. D'Youville over 16. Gonzaga: It will be over by the end of the 1st quarter.
2. Campion over 15. Brathwaite: Another empty the bench game.
3. Loyola over 14. Meadowvale: The highest scoring game of the first round.
4. Xavier over 13. Notre Dame: Xavier blew out ND early in the season and despite their poor performance at Sheridan, they bounced back in their last league game.
5. Mount Carmel over 12. Sandalwood: Carmel has too much experience over a young Sandalwood team.
6. Ascension over 11. St. Joseph: This match-up isn't nearly as close as the seeding difference. Ascension has too much athleticism.
7. Goetz over 10. Pocock: After the first month of the season, this might have gine the other way but Goetz has been Peel's most improved team since Christmas.
9. BCSS over 8. Mississauga: Mississauga got smacked late in the season and bad games have a way of lingering.
D'Youville over BCSS: D'Youville has too many weapons and BCSS will do well to keep this within 15.
Campion over Goetz: As much as Goetz has improved, the top 2 seeds are far ahead of the rest of the league.
Loyola over Ascension: Loyola's defence is ripe for the picking but Ascension's main focus will be their AA qualifier against Oakville Aquinas the next day. Otherwise, this would be a very tight battle to the bitter end.
Xavier over Carmel: This seems to be everyone's pick for the mild upset but lets not forget that Xavier has had their number all season and for the past few seasons. This is the one team that can't surprise them.
D'Youville over Xavier: The Tigers will play strong D but they will get out-rebounded like crazy and Kamran will be the Tiger killer in this one.
Campion over Loyola: The gap between 2 and 3 is bigger than the gap between 3 and 7, IMO. Loyola will try to run and gun but Campion will expose their almost non-existent defence.
D'Youville over Campion: D'Youville is the class of Peel and has an outside chance for a semi-final spot at OFSAA. Campion is a great team in its own right but isn't quite as deep or as athletic.
