There's only one team better that can be called indisputably better then Vaughan, that's Henry Carr's A team. Since many can argue about Vaughan and Pickering being close. Saying Newmarket can play with them is just uninformed stupidity. There's a reason why the Vaughan juniors are the only York team ranked in the top ten, and there's a reason the other three are not.

tru, it'd be nice if more york teamz play in toronto tournamentz like vaughan & brebuf do, then prove themselves out to be gud teamz, newmarket has potential but they are still unproven like u said, no disrespect to newmarket.
prediction vaughan by 25 ova newmarket

[quote="whatupdawg"]whoz got d scout on newmarket?

newmarkts got a solid starting 5 and 2 bench guys that can ball too...
1. Pg- Mohamed, decent point guard but not a pure pg, can shoot when hot and a good passer
2. SG #25 (dont know name) great shooter, especially when hot and can take it to the basket but does not do it enough
3. SF- Deon, one of the best defenders in york easy, and can finsh round the hoop and rebound
4. PF- Brett, very fundamental with a decent mid range game and great ball handlin for a pf
5. C- Joseph, VERY athletic big man with one of the better shots for his size, but can get carried away when he gets into the game
Bench-
1 athletic guy that finishes and plays good d
another kid that got good game
dere you go, thats newmarket

Just a quick thought, Newmarket has become quite a hub of basketball.
Denison, Newmarket High and Sacred Heart all are in the running. Newmarket's junior team is quite good and Denison, with Pangos, and a host of grade 10s are in the semis at senior.
Sacred has been to the finals the past five years in either junior or senior having won three championships in the past seven years and has its name on the junior yraa championship trophy more than any other school.
Makes you wonder what's in the water up there.

Coach 89: Something's definitely in the air in Newmarket! We live in the area, my son's 4 months old, and he's growing like a bean stalk!! haha
Partially, I think you can attribute this difference to programs like the Newmarket Basketball Club started by Jason Scott. It just turned 10 years old, but I think its dividends are really starting to be seen now.
Dwill: I'm curious - do you know how many players from Newmarket got their start in this program?

i think alot of the players in newmarket are in or have played for the york avengers which is a pretty nice organization with plenty of good coaching

Yeah, that's what I figured! I figured it had something to do with the youth basketball programme, as the Newmarket one starts at age 4! I don't think MUMBA starts until age 6, so you're getting two extra years with the kids. Without this, if you want your 4 year old enrolled in a sport, you'd probably have them play soccer, baseball, etc., and they'd be more likely to stick with that.

k . but back on topic to me this semi finals game on monday is to really see and deicde if vaughan is ready for the championship if its a close win i think the preasure is getting to them but if it's a blowout i think it's safe to say they're ready

i agree with you coach and i agree with you simpletouch, but also, they arent being affected by pressure, its just a matter if they have another great game left in them, which i believe they do
