Junior Coaches Poll 2009-10. Coaches required!

As I have mentioned on another thread I would like to organize a poll of Junior Coaches in the GTA.

Rick is in favour of the idea and he says he will also post it on the main website.

My goal will be to publish this every second week.

Please let me know which school you coach at and the region you coach in if I don't know you already

Hopefully we can have representation from all parts of the GTA.

We're to a fairly good start in that direction.

how does this coaches poll thing work?

The coaches will send me their choices for Top Sixteen with four HM's and I will compile a list.

I will formulate a point system e.g. 1st place vote= 20 points, 2nd place = 19 points etc. 4th honourable mention = 1 point.

I will show Previous Poll, first place votes and total points.

I have about 5 or 6 coaches so far.

Maybe with playoffs and Championships this week this topic went unnoticed.

Up to 8 I'm sure there will be more.

do you know when it may be released coach?

There are now 11 coaches I expect more.

We will publish after the first games are played in October of next season.

I know there has been some discussion about Halton teams, will they be included in your poll? Many of the Oakville teams play in tournaments and exhibitions to the east of them and are worthy opponents. For instance, Holy Trinity traditionally plays in Peel and beyond. Their performance at the rim rocker, beating Carr B and D'youville, would suggest that the top teams in their league are quite capable. Funny thing about Halton, Hamilton disowns them hopefully the GTA doesn't!!!!!!!

I feel they should be included.

HT beat Carr B in the round robin of the Junior Rimrocker.

I'd love to be involved, but next year I'll be coaching our senior team.

As expected, I'll be keeping my ear to the streets so I think I could still make a positive unbiased contribution to this Junior poll.

Of course, Coach! I will add you to the list!

We are up to about 15 coaches with TDCSB, Durham, Peel, York and Halton all represented.

We are hoping for more. Please contact me at robertjclement@hotmail.com .

With the addition of an up-and-coming young coach, Coach Miles from St. Edmund Campion in Peel, we are up to 15 coaches participating in next year's poll.

It will be a success in my opinion and I expect the participation to grow.

Here is my plan:

I will ask the coaches to e-mail me their choices by 10:00 p.m. every second Tuesday. They can send me their take on the Top Sixteen Junior teams in the GTA (including Halton) and up to four HM's.

I will compile the results and publish the results on the Junior Discussion Board as well as being published by Rick on the main site.

I will include the points on this basis: 1st place 20 points, 2nd place 19 points, etc. down to fourth HM 1 point.

When I publish the results I plan to include the number of coaches participating.

Of course I will respect the confidentiality of the individual coaches who take part.

I currently have a group of 15 coaches who will be participating in the Junior Coaches Poll which I hope to publish every two weeks beginning in November 2009. This will hopefully culminate in a tournament at season end with the top teams taking part.

Please let me know if you wish to take part in the poll.

I realize that in some cases you may have already offered your help so I apologize if this is redundant.

I would also like to organize a list of tournament dates moving forward into next season.

Hopefully we can avoid major conflicts.

I have e-mailed all the coaches on my contact list I believe it was 79 coaches.

So this will give them a chance to take part. Hopefully I add to my list for the poll.

We are up to 19 coaches. They come from all six regions of the GTA although we do not have many coaches from Halton as yet.

That will provide an excellent cross-section of opinion from across the GTA.

The poll now includes 21 coaches who have stepped up to help.

Hopefully we will add to that number in November when the new season starts.
