Tryouts for MDP begin in late May early June with athletes being selected to teams from within their own regions with the objective of participating at the upcoming camp. MDP is usually held in early July and takes place over a five-day period. During this camp, athletes receive skill development as part of their regional teams and then compete in a tournament against other regional teams in the province for the Midget Development Camp Championships. In addition to both individual and team skill development within the tournament format, athletes participate in guest sessions performed by keynote speakers from the basketball community. Guest sessions range from National team coaches to strength and conditioning specialists.
