The Scarborough Basketball Association (SBA) currently is seeking volunteers that are SBA members of all ages (boys and girls, 14 to 19 years old) to help it fulfill its commitment to the youth of Scarborough and surrounding neighbourhoods. Opportunities are available for refereeing and score keeping youth games, etc. in the D-League (formerly House League).
The Mission of the Scarborough Basketball Association is to provide a positive environment for all Scarborough and surrounding area youth, coaches and parents by promoting and developing the sport of basketball.
You have the choice of receiving a credit regarding the 40-hour requirement for volunteering (High School requirement for graduating) and/or a financial reward per game. Volunteering is an excellent way to meet new people and make friendships. It also provides an opportunity for being recognized in the community and providing new experiences.
Experience is not a necessity. The SBA provides training and guidance for all of its volunteers through an established mentoring process. If you are interested, please go to the SBA web site: www.sbabasketball.ca to download a volunteer application (FORMS). If you have questions, please contact the club at referee@sbabasketball.ca.
