As promised, here is an update for this season.
As mentioned in the NAA thread, everything happens for a reason and that program not working out was no exception.
After the program fell through, I received numerous other job offers in the U.S. as a Coach and/or Program Administrator, but after
looking at the mass exodus of players leaving Canada for American Prep schools, I felt that staying here in Canada and continuing to
support Basketball here would be a better option for me and my family.
For the upcoming year I will be working with 2 phenomenal programs, the York University Men's Basketball Program and REDA/Regional Elite Development Academy (formerly known as NEDA).
At York University, I am honored to work with a great staff as an Assistant under Head Coach Bob Bain (CIS Head Coach of 35 yrs) and Coach Tom Oliveri. With numerous talented young players in their 1st-3rd years, the future is very bright at York and I am excited to be a part of the program.
With REDA, Coach Tarry Upshaw has done a phenomenal job of resurrecting this program from the budget fallout with Basketball Canada. Especially with the high number of Elite Canadian players heading down to the U.S., it is more critical than ever that our Elite guys have an option for high level training and exposure here in Canada. With a schedule including some of the Top U.S. Prep School Tournaments, and games vs. OCAA and JUCO teams and dedicated training on a daily basis, REDA is a great Canadian based alternative to American Prep Schools.
Thank you to everyone in the GTA Basketball community for all your support, and look out for more news on the York U. Men's Program and REDA coming soon!
