Peel Tier I Scores - Page 4 Empty Re: Peel Tier I Scores

Post by Kellog Mon Feb 08, 2010 5:54 pm

Goetz dominated that game from the tip. Paolo Reyes #24 scored and one to start things off. Jesse Tubbs #3 shut down Joan Arc leading scorer Jalen Roberts #3 in the first half stripping him a few times leading to more points. Centre Adam E #4 dominated the glass, blocking shots, scoring inside. RJ Rameriz #11 had a big block and a steal leading to more easy baskets. Then the power forward #15 hit consecutive three pointers. That was the first quarter.
Lockdown defence was the key to this victory. Steal after steal, block after block and good shooting by Goetz resulted in a huge lead. At one point leading by about 35 points.
With the game totally out of reach, the starters did not see the floor after the first couple of minutes of the second half. Players at the very end of the Goetz bench which has 20 members played extended minutes. That is the only time Joan Arc was able to do anything. Dominating performance by Goetz. They were simply on another level then Arc.
    Goetz 74 (J. Tubbs 20pts) @ Joan Arc 52 (J. Roberts 15pts)

I disagree with the comment Joan of Arc having the most talent in the south. Goetz, St Joes and even Gonzaga look like much better teams. I believe Joan of Arc record is a result of beating the weaker teams. They are a very small team with a bunch of really small guards. Team doesn’t look very talented at all. Don’t play as a team and players are not talented enough to beat guys one on one.

Agreed. Joan of Arc was one of the most overrated teams in the pre-season. You only need to look at their loss to a very weak Xavier team as proof. Their only win of any note was over a somewhat overrated Gonzaga team that depends on one play and is hot and cold. They are well behind Goetz and Joes.

It will be interesting to see JOA play St.Joes because isin't it true that every team has had A BAD game or a couple BAD games. For instance Texas now ranked 14th in the nation ...2 weeks ago was 1st so maybe Joan is expiereincing a BAD couple of games. They did beat Gonzaga in double overtime who lost to Goetz by 1 off a game ending turnover in the last 20 seconds which lead to a game winning lay up. I dont think JOA is 30+ points worse then Goetz it could have jus been a BAD game. But they will really show thier true colours against St. Joes lets not count this team out ...They do have 10 previous OBA D1 players in 1994/95 that have ranked up some championships over the years

I never said that talent means you are automatically a great team. St.Joan of Arc 1 through 12 have the most talent in the south division. 10 OBA players is alot to have on any high school basketball team. Obviously they have not put the pieces together in order to compete at a high level.

JOA managed to take Jerome and Tray out of their offensive comfort zones.
St. Joes was also outhustled and outrebounded by JOA. It was probably one of their best games since they defeated Zaga in double OT before x-mas break. It was really a team effort.

How did Ascension end up losing to Turner??

Ascension previously beat Fletchers and Campion (ranked 2nd and 3rd in north). Ascension must have been missing someone.

Though I do see that Turner is turning on the pressure as of late.

Post by Peel Fan Tue Feb 23, 2010 10:36 pm

In the North, D'Youville, Fletcher's, Campion, Ascension, and Sandalwood have all clinched playoff spots. The 6th spot could get messy as Augustine, Turner, BCSS and ND all have a chance.

The nightmare scenario for tie-breaking would be if Augustine lost to ND, Turner lost to D'Youville, and BCSS beat Ascension. Then you would have a four-way tie for the final spot and, as per Peel rules, tie-breaker games would need to be played. Would they do a one day mini-tournament?

In the South, Goetz, Joes, Joan of Arc, and Gonzaga and Marcy have all clicnhed. Marcy has the inside track for one of the last two spots though the re could be a three way tie for the ast two if Marcy loses to JOA, Martins beats Pocock and Pocock beats Carmel...all very possible results.

The Pocock vs Carmel game has been played. Carmel defeated Pocock.
For some reason the score isnt on ROPSAA Scores. I noticed the date was December 3rd but as far as I know the game took place last week.
