The Elementary School Game is a nice touch.

Traditionally these are tough teams. I would like to see this!

Oh yeah and the high school teams are also going to put on a great tournament!

Early predictions would be Carr vs. Vaughan and Pickering vs. Mother Theresa in the semi-finals.

No real potential upsets for first seem to stand out. Some might quickly point to St. Pat's but this year's team won't be nearly as good as last year's awesome AAA champions. (Nice touch with the AAA final rematch in group D.) They were heavy with grade 12s last year and their junior teams haven't been as strong the past couple of years.

Ascension is another unknown. They had plenty of 4th and 5th year players last season and surprised many (including myself) but there might be a one-year rebuild while the grade 11s get up to senior speed.

Agree with Peel Fan 100%. Mother Theresa should cruise past there teams in the pool with Big Mo and Ashton in the game. Pickering should also have little trouble dealin with there pool. Father Henry should have no trouble as well, but I believe that Vaughan might lose to the AAA champs. You can't forget Vaughan has lost the Wiggins brothers as well. I do believe teams like West Humber, Martingrove, Milken Mills, and Sacred Hearts, may possibly throw some upsets. Ascension had way to many 5th year players, and did not hear much about there junoir squad. Interesting to see what will happen.

This will be a great tournament to start the year off and you just might see some of the best basketball of the season in this pre-season tournament. Looks like pool D is the toughest pool as the teams are probably very closely matched. St. Pats did lose some of their best guards to graduation but they are going to be a strong team with the addition of two high quality juniors and an elite transfer that sat out last year due to eligibility rules. Mother Theresa's size will likely be too much for most teams to handle this year and I like them in this tournament, but it definitely would not be an upset if Pickering or FHC won the tournament. Pickering picked up some strong talent (Gagliardi and others) and FHC's junior program has been one of the provinces best over the last few years so they too will be tough to beat.

We are hopeful that Rogers can make it, but that has not been confirmed. I think the Rogers crew did a wonderful job last year with the games they broadcast.

Although we really loved our old gym (I am not sure why LOL), this new gym is a definite upgrade from the old gym. We have 6 glass backboards with collapsible rims, which is great for developmental drills. The wood floor is new and there are fewer lines on the court than most gyms. The wall padding is new, the scoreclock is new, the scorers table is new, and the bleachers are new. My only regret is that we cant seat more fans. It seems that this tournament has quickly become a favourite of the fans, possibly because it is the first major tournament of the season. I am certain that we could attract 500 fans for the finals if we could seat them.

    A few reminders:

The gym will be closed for the 1:20 pm games on Thursday and Friday. The doors will open at approximately 2:45 pm each day.

The admission fee for Thursday and Friday is $2 for students WITH ID and $5 for adults. On Saturday, to help with crowd control, the admission fee is $5 for EVERYONE.

I hope everyone enjoys the action at the Early Bird Classic!

baller101 im not hating on anybody it simply makes sence. If you lose 3 of your best player (Michael A, Daine C, Kwame O) plus that big 6'6 C they had your team is going to struggle. Guess they are relying on bench players to step up. It is not hate im just trying to break down every team to get a better understanding

"i seen that Colin guy play when he faced us twice last year... he is shit to me cuz he is 6'6 and he had like 2 rebounds and 4 pionts both games"

So if hes shit MCI doesn't need him anyways right? im tellin you there is no chance of milliken mills beaten grove. and u wanna tell me ure not hatin? you've been boostin whci like there gunna win west when there not its gettin kinda obvious u go to whci
