There are definitely many opportunities for you to play post secondary school basketball. For starters, I know that you can easily play Canadian community college basketball. I've seen you play a few times and I know you have the skill set, athleticism and hunger to excell. You could play at schools like Durham College, Seneca, Fleming, Humber, Algonquin or St. Lawrence. All of these schools have pretty good programs. You need to contact the coaches for these schools....get their email address or contact number.....get in touch with them and let them know who you are, what you've done so far and how they can get in touch with you.
There are opportunities to play C.I.S. as well, but, that is a step up from Community College ball. If you are an academic student and university bound, then you should do the same. Contact the coaches at the schools which you are interested in.....that have the academic program that you ideally want to study. You stand a much better chance in a tryout situation, if the coach knows who you are from the onset rather than being a virtual unknown. Once you've done that, work on getting bigger and stronger in the weight room...work on your conditioning.....running, running and more running....work on your game..ball handling, shooting. Make sure you play in a competitive summer league like the University of Toronto Summer League or catch on with a good AAU team.
If you are looking at the US option, then you will need a lot more time. Coaches have already made up their minds on who they are going to sign for September 2010. The actual NCAA signing date for basketball is on Wednesday April 14th. You would have to wait until the start of next school year at the absolute earliest point. You can't wait until the end of your senior season to start looking at opportunities in the United States. It is way to late by then!!!!! You need to plan for that at least a year in advance.
