The Ontario team ran into a very quick and athletic Quebec squad. The Quebec squad had a kid who played on the national team who just 'went off' for 30 points. I feel that the Ontario squad was a little frazzled and stayed in a zone longer than they should have and their offense never seemed to get off the ground cohesively. The Quebec team shot 15-3 pointers many of which with a hand in their face. When all was said and done Quebec was the better team on that day. It was a pretty good run for Ontario but it was definitely a silver medal performance.

Off course they lost did you guys see the roster HAHAHA. No big names or heavy hitters on there. Not one PEEL player oh wait I forgot, some no name for Caledon which is technically in PEEL. Not one B Town or Sauga man, what did these loser coaching staff who no one even heard of expect. So many good T DOT players also not chosen. Seems like they tried to get an all-around Ontario team and not just GTA.

Let's face it the GTA alone could beat an all out Canada team with best players from all the other provinces combined.

I been out of the scene for a few weeks and then I came back and saw this squad and started cracking up, only reason they even made finals is bc rest of canada SUCKS.

JT, you sound bitter?? Did you have friends that didn't make the team? GTA players have to try-out. Cadet-National team members weren't allowed on the Provincial team in Ontario. Anyways, big names at 17 years old? How many do you know? How many guys do you know who've gone 'pro'? and you can't say, a guy will go pro, no one knows that until it happens. This isn't the pro's it's development.

Three of our kids from the St David program represented Ontario (2 U15-Tyrlell Greene and Shandon Mootoosamy and 1 U17-Agunwa Okolie) Of which Tyrell Greene (St David) received MVP and Agunwa Okolie received 1st team All-Star.

All the kids from both teams sacraficed their time and they played very well. Is the provincial and national system perfect; far from it. However, they are moving in the right direction, albeit a little slow for my liking.

Dont disrespect the players and coaches who are trying to develop a system that would benefit the future players wanting to come up and play for the national teams.

I have helped out at many national team workouts and let me tell you, 10 years ago you'd have to BEG players to come. Now, there are more quality players coming out on their own as well as players agents who have been contacting CB to enquire about their clients' tryouts etc.

So instead of always being critical, involve yourself in any capacity to try to make things better.

Big names- ANTHONY BENNETT is probably one of Canada's biggest names U17 nuff manz in the states know about him. If you don't know about him here I dont know what to say.

If Bennett, Negus, Bhullar, Wiggins, Peters, Pangos were on this team, Quebec would have been smoked for real.

Well done, JT. What an incredibly ignorant series of posts on your part.

By the way, Marko (as a Grade 10) started on the Caledon Cougars Junior team that stuffed your beloved B-town boys twice this past year by 20 points.

The only people who don't know who the coaches are, are the ones without much of a clue in the Basketball Ontario scene. Again, congratulations.

Unless they try out they can't play. Also, you couldn't be on the U17 Cadet and the Ontario team. JT, It's just an fictional 'what if scenario'.

From what I understand alot of players went to try out. At the tryout the coach asked if anyone was attempting to also play AAU with a club team. Those who answered yes were not considered. Some just chose to withdraw there names. Some didnt try out.

Coach Mauro I noticed Henry,Marcus, and Troy all made the first cut. But didnt make the final roster. Am I right by assuming they chose AAU over Team O. There no doubt that the 3 have provincial talent.

I encourage my players to tryout for the provincial teams. Every January, I give the OBA my summer schedule to try to workout any potential conflicts (IF they pick any of our players) For the most part this works. The idea is that the kids will get MORE basketball in general, and not just from our club.

Regarding Henry, Troy and Marcus, they didnt choose AAU over Team O. IMO I felt that they should have been on the team, however, obviously it wasn't my call.

My advice to anyone who didnt make the teams and felt they should have, turn that expience into a motivating factor and "up your game". We have all heard the Michael Jordan story...........
