In Peel, Catholic dominates. The teams that have been final four the past few years have almost always been Catholic. In fact, Humberview was the first public team in the final 8 in 2-3 years and all of the AAAA OFSAA reps (two each year) over the past few seasons have been Catholic. The powers include Goetz, Loyola, Ascension, Campion, d'Youville, Xavier, Notre Dame and Augustine.
In Halton, the Catholic schools usually dominate, too: Assumption, Aquinas, Holy Trinity, and Notre Dame have all been top teams over the past decade.
York is a more even mix with teams like Markham, Vaughan, and Milliken Mills from public and Sacred Heart, St. Theresa, and Brother Andre from Catholic.
Durham has a public school at the top (Pickering) but a mix after that, including Pine Ridge and Dunbarton from public and Notre Dame and St. Mary's from Catholic.
Toronto doesn't have a combined public and catholic league so it's harder to make direct comparisons. Teams from the public league that have been consistent GTA top 15 teams over the past few years include Eastern, Oakwood, West Hill, Emery, Vaughan Road, and Martingrove. The Catholic side has four consistent contenders: Carr, Mother Teresa, Pope, and Jean Vanier.
I would say that Public has a slight advantage in the City of Toronto but catholic has the advantage when you look at the entire GTA, mostly because of the large advantage in Peel and Halton.
