Top Canadian and U.S. high school stars battle on the hardwood at Canadian Flight Games
Top basketball students from across Canada and the United States will square off at the 6th annual Canadian Flight Games at Ryerson University on July 28, 2011, from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Toronto Raptors’ Sonny Weems and other celebrities, will be in attendance to enjoy the festivities, present awards and judge the slam dunk competition.
“Canadian Flight Games unites the best basketball student-athletes from Canada and the United States to showcase their talents. In previous years we have had many successful participants including Corey Joseph who now plays for the San Antonio Spurs and Tristan Thompson who plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers,” says Christoff Kyere, event organizer for Flightunit.com. “As a community, we have to empower our students to pursue their dreams by reaching out to them through their passion.”
This event is open to the public watch and will include the following activities:
- Senior Elite and Rookie Canada vs US All-Star Game(s)
- Skills and drills competitions (3 point & speed course competition)
- King of the Rim Slam Dunk Competition
- Student-athlete award presentation (presented by Sonny Weems)
- Dedication to Excellence Award Presentation
- Celebrity guest appearances
- Live performances
- Website launch of Flightunit.com
Admission for this event is $12, or $10 with a non-perishable food item. Tickets for children (ages 10 and under) are $7, or $5 with a non-perishable food item. All proceeds will be donated to Covenant House Toronto—Canada’s largest shelter for homeless youth.
