In preparation for the upcoming Early Bird Classic, Fr Henry Carr will host Thornlea this Friday.

The Crusaders are the top ranked high school team and the Thunder are the #2 ranked NPSAA team.

We have received many inquiries about the Thornlea team. Each member of the team is a student at Thornlea SS, although not necessarily eligible by OFSAA transfer standards.

Tipoff is 5:30 pm. The school will not be open until 5 pm.

Cost of admission is $2 for students and $3 for adults. An adult is anybody who is not in elementary school or high school.

Please be respectful of our facility. Food, candy, chewing gum, coffee, tea, or drinks are NOT permitted in the gymnasium.

" Each member of the team is a student at Thornlea SS, although not necessarily eligible by OFSAA transfer standards."

Is this statement an excuse in case you lose the game, you asked for the game so a loss is a loss and a win is a win.

Winning or losing in the pre-season is irrelevant. The point is that although Thornlea is not playing in the York Region league, each team member is a high school aged student at Thornlea, but may not necessarily be eligible by OFSAA transfer standards.

I want to thank the Thornlea team and Coaches for coming to Fr Henry Carr to compete. It was an exciting game for the fans and both teams, and we were able to identify specific areas for improvement.

Thanks to all who contributed to the atmosphere and to our fundraising efforts!

We wish the Thornlea team all the best of luck in this season.

    Best wishes,

    Coach Melnik

    Good win for Carr

Thornlea gave up 90 points? wow! they should go back to Vaughan and learn some defensive principles.

and they are supposedly the 2nd best "canadian prep school" lol

Is this "Thornlea" team also the Triple Balance AAU team?

Is Thornlea Secondary School going to have a team for their regular YRAA eligible student/athletes?

Interesting times for basketball in the GTA!

Hi Mu2, just as a sidenote...the game was played as a mixture of fiba and federation rules, they played 4 ten minute quarters and with a 24 second shot clock therefore 90 points in this format is not outrageous.
