We see the rankings for tier one schools, but I'm interested in seeing the top tier 2 teams.
If possible can you guys tell me the players to look out for on those teams. Thank You.

Re: Top Tier 2 Teams ??
But Lincoln & Central Peel over Heart Lake is arguable, not because of their records in league play.

6. Louise Arbour
7. St. Joseph
8. TL Kennedy
9. Bramalea
10. Rick Hansen
I have watched all of theses teams play at least once this year. The North divisions are much stronger than the south. There are teams in the North that won't make the playoffs but would finish top two in the south.

Re: Top Tier 2 Teams ??
Apparently both Lincoln and Central Peel have beaten Aquinas which I was not aware of; in that case I believe this is a fairly accurate ranking for ROPSSAA tier 2.
1. Lincoln Alexander
Wins: 75-51 & 58-53 vs. Central Peel, 78-65 & 61-50 vs. Bramalea 54-53 vs. Leger, they also beat Aquinas but I don’t know what the score was.
Loses: 69-58 vs. Central Peel
2. Central Peel
Wins: 69-58 vs. Lincoln, 66-60 vs. Bramalea, 65-49 vs. Leger, 72-65, 76-64, & 66-56 vs. Heart Lake, 77-74 vs. Louis Arbour, 56-46 vs. David Suzuki, they also beat Aquinas but I don’t know what the scores was.
Losses: 75-51 & 58-53 vs. Lincoln, 51-46 vs. Bramalea, 82-80 vs. Leger
3. Aquinas
Wins: 50-38 vs. Heart Lake, 60-52 vs. Bramalea
Losses: 52-35 vs. Humberview, Lincoln & Central Peel
4. Cardinal Leger
Wins: 82-80 vs. Central Peel, 73-56 vs. Bramalea, 75-56 vs. Clarkson, 53-35 vs. Woodlands
Losses: 54-53 vs. Lincoln, 72-65 vs. Central Peel, 63-48 vs. Bramalea, 46-42 vs. Oakville
5. Heart Lake
Wins: 65-57 vs. Louise Arbour, 55-53 vs. Bramalea, 37-21 vs. St.Joseph, 48-43 vs. David Suzuki,
Losses: 50-38 vs. Aquinas, 44-37 vs. Turner, 46-43 vs. Woodlands, 72-65, 76-64, & 66-56 vs. Central Peel
6. Louise Arbour
Wins: 80-44 vs. David Suzuki, 45-30 vs. Turner
Losses: 77-74 vs. Central Peel, 65-57 vs. Heart Lake
7. St. Joseph
Wins: 55-54 & 51-41 vs. Turner, 62-54 vs. Mississauga, 62-33 vs. Woodlands, 70-49 vs. St. Paul
Losses: 37-21 vs. Heart Lake, 47-45 vs. Oakville,
8. TL Kennedy
Wins: 87-80 & 68-62 vs. Clarkson,
Loses: 56-55 vs. Woodlands, 72-51 vs. Turner
9. Bramalea
Wins: 63-48 vs. Leger, 51-46 vs. Central Peel, 87-82 vs. Applewood, 45-27 vs. Oakville
Losses: 78-65 & 61-50 vs. Lincoln, 66-60 vs. Central Peel, 73-56 vs. Leger, 60-52 vs. Aquinas, 55-53 vs. Heart Lake
10. Rick Hansen
Wins: 57-54 vs. St. Paul, 60-51 vs. David Suzuki
Loses: 72-42 vs. Father Goetz, 68-64 vs. Robinson
However only the top 2 teams in each division qualify for the playoffs meaning Bramalea has already been eliminated and either Louise Arbour or Heart Lake will be eliminated as well as either Central Peel or Cardinal Leger and Lorne Park will most likely make it in over Clarkson.

Re: Top Tier 2 Teams ??
Cardinal Leger beat Central Peel today for the 2nd time in league play virtually eliminating them from the playoffs. In order for Central Peel to make the playoffs they will need 3 things to happen 1. JSF beats Leger 2. Lincoln beats Leger and 3. Central beats Bramalea. I highly doubt #1 will happen which means they will not make the playoffs. I never thought this would happen, especially since most people (including myself) felt that Central could have been a mid range tier 1 team this year.

A key to their success out of league play was a few players who were ineligible for league play. That also plays a part in them not able to unfortunately make it to the playoffs now.

Re: Top Tier 2 Teams ??
Louise Arbour beat Heart Lake by 20 in an exhibition game at home in one meeting, Heart Lake beat Louise Arbour by 8 in the next meeting at Heart Lake. Aquinas faces Louise Arbour on Monday. If Louise Arbour wins it will be a three way tie for the north division 7-1 for all three teams. But only two teams make the play-offs from each division so it will be an interesting situation. If you look on ROPSAA scores Louise Arbour averages a win with a + 30 point differential when they play at home. Any predictions on who will win each division ?

Louise Arbour did not beat Heart Lake by 20 in an exhibition game. It was a 20 point lead which Heartlake brought down to single digits but wasnt able to complete the comeback and take the win. Also on the sheet handed to the coaches it states top 8 teams in tier two will advance for the senior level. While for the junior level the top 2 team in each division.

So it doesn't matter if you're the #1 team in your division, there's a possibilty that you wont make playoffs?

Re: Top Tier 2 Teams ??
Louise Arbour is under-rated! I've played LA and Aquinas this season and we lost by 1 to Aquinas by a stupid intentional foul by my teammate when it was 59-59 and Aquinas took the win 60-59 whereas Louise beat us by 12. Louise Arbour has competed with some tier 1 teams and have been a top team in tier 2. Aquinas have better bigs than LA but the guards on LA are better than Aquinas guards. It'll be a close game but I think LA will take the W. There is a guard on Aquinas that I've seen play in a tournament but I think he's not able to play in leauge... If he was then it would be a different story.

I was told directly by the ROPSSAA Basketball convener, that only the top 2 teams in each division qualify for the playoffs. The only way a 3rd place team can make the playoffs is if a higher seeded team has declared and qualified for AAA play downs. It is highly unlikely that a tier 2 team will qualify for AAA play downs considering the amount of tier 1 teams that have declared for AAA.

According to ROPSSAA:
In senior games where a tie exists between more than two teams for the last
playoff position byes will be awarded according to the following criteria:
(i) The result(s) of the league game(s) between the tied teams.
(ii) The point difference of games played between the tied teams.
(iii) A coin toss.
Note: A maximum point differential in a game will be recorded as 15 points.
If Louise Arbour beats Aquinas today leaving all three teams with 7-1 records, they would not be able to use (i) as the determining factor as each team has beaten each other (Heart Lake beat Louise Arbour who beat Aquinas who beat Heart Lake). Therefore they would use (ii) to determine who makes the playoffs, in this case currently Aquinas (+12) and Heart Lake (-4) have playoff spots over Louise Arbour -8
Now, if Louise Arbour can beat Aquinas by 5 or more points they will make the playoffs over Heart Lake (Aquinas +7, Louise Arbour -3, & Heart Lake -4).
I believe this is correct.
It should be a very exciting game.

Aquinas lost by 42 to Louise Arbour does that mean (Aquinas -30, Louise Arbour 34, & Heart Lake -4). leaving Aquinas out the playoffs? It also says "
Note: A maximum point differential in a game will be recorded as 15 points." under the paragraph about Juniors and not Seniors?

Re: Top Tier 2 Teams ??
As I said before Louise Arbour averages a win by around 30 at home.. They went in and fought for play-off hopes. Tefari Bailey took it personal he went bananas and ended up with 52 points which I believe ties the GTA record for most points in a game for this season.

Like I said... The guard power on LA is better than Aquinas! I was surprised by the scored and the amount Tefari scored but it'll be great to see how playoffs go. I'm going for LA to take it all! I'd have to say that Lincoln is gonna be tough to beat though.

As far as I know the maximum point differential is 15 points which means Aquinas and Louis Arbour have made the playoffs. However I believe the maximum point differential used to be 20 points and you are correct the asterisk is under the junior explanation so I could be wrong. Your best bet is to consult with the ROPSSAA basketball convener.

Re: Top Tier 2 Teams ??
I stand corrected a 3rd place team can make the playoffs but they would have to be voted in over a 2nd place team from another division.
A 1st place team has to be seeded 1-8
2nd place team can be seeded 2-12
3rd place team can be seeded 3-12
Top 8 qualify for playoffs
*2nd place teams cannot be seeded above the 1st place team in their division and 3rd place teams cannot be seeded above the 1st or 2nd place teams in their division.
North
1. Louise Arbour 2. Aquinas 3. Heart Lake
North Central
1. Lincolm 2. Leger 3. Central Peel
South
1. T.L. Kennedy 2. Lorne Park 3. Clarkson (AA)
South Central
1.Rick Hansen 2. St. Joseph 3. St.Paul
Central Peel or Heart Lake has an outside shot at being voted in over Lorne Park or St.Joseph
