If Richview is the closest French Immersion option and still out of catchment, he will get thru the transfer. Special programs only offered at specific schools are an acceptable reason for out of catchment enrollment.
If you do not go to SCI (your home high school) you will not pass transfer. Michael Power is your only other option if you wish to play next year. If you want to play at MCI or RCI make sure your partents move into those school boundries
Re: Silverthorn Collegiate?
he doesnt want to stay in french immersion he said.
you should just go to silverthorn, if you are as good as you say you are then you'll make the 8 man rotation next year. silverthorn is still a good team finished 6-4 in league play and was one game away from AAAA ofsaa this year.

LOL. you make it sound like Silverthorn actually did something to earn the game to play for a birth to AAAA ofsaa. they only play qualifying games almost every year because the lack of 4A schools in the West Region.

That makes no sense, Silverthorn is better then Richview.
Martingrove, if you want to sit on a deep bench then by all means go.

French Immersion is not required for post secondary education. It does not fit the OFSAA guidelines. According to OFSAA IB, AP, FI or Arts programs are not transferable grounds.

Re: Silverthorn Collegiate?
Michael Power isn't a choir school lol and i'm going for basketball as well as the IB program. hopefully i will be able to maintain both and be able to go to a good university in the future. it's not only about baketball right now. you always need a plan B because just think about it there are millions of kids around the world who's dream is to make it to pro ball and only a few thousand teams to supply that dream.

He is moving from Sault Ste. Marie to Etobicoke so he will be eligible under section (a)(i) of the transfer regulations. Past precedent has shown that with TDSB's flexible boundaries, he will be eligible at any of the nearby schools.

Re: Silverthorn Collegiate?
TDSB does not have flexible boundries. On tdsb.on.ca you can find the school by street address. Over the past few years the TDSB has clamped down on these transfers.
He is not eligible under A(i) unless he goes to Silverthorn or Michael Power. Under A(i) he has to move with his parents (or court ordered legal guardian) to the home school. If he does not go to his home school he will most likely be disappointed and miss out on the year.
The coaches at Silverthorn are some of the best in the Toronto. Silverthorn is always competitive team but they just dont have the athletes that other schools have. Winning and losing does not always reflect on coaching ability. If you go to SCI you will not be disappointed.

Re: Silverthorn Collegiate?
The TDSB still has the optional attendance program. Both Richview and Martingrove are categorized as limited which means students from anywhere in the city are currently eligible to attend as there is space.
None of this means I believe he should go to a different school, as I indicated in my first post in the thread.

Re: Silverthorn Collegiate?
Whether or not he is accepted in the school is irrelevant to eligibility. I have no doubt he will be allowed entrance if he decides to go there. However, if he does he will not meet the transfer requirements to be eligible for basketball. But we can agree to disagree because we both think he should go to his home school

Re: Silverthorn Collegiate?
Thank You all for the great suggestions. I quess in the end I have three realistic choices:
1). Silverthron - Home School;
2). St. Mikes - Closest Catholic School &
3). Richview - (French Immersion).
In the end the choice is my parents so I will present them with the options.

Re: Silverthorn Collegiate?
the 93 class at martingrove is a joke and the most boosted squad in history, after mathew wrights gone they will have nothing. silverthorn has one of the best coachs in the city and has arguably the best 93's in the west. also one of the best programs, were going to new brunswick next year and possibly in san diago. silverthorns the place to be my friend...

Re: Silverthorn Collegiate?
Martingrove is going to be garbage after their grade 12s leave. Richview has the best 93' players out of all these schools they went undefeated two years in a row in tdsb. After next year they are going to be first. As for Silverthorn it's a decent school but if you are looking for academics you should go to Michael Power which has a better ball team than Silverthorn due to its large size. Last year they finished second in the west behind Henry Carr.

Re: Silverthorn Collegiate?
I'm not very sure either, but i know that they had a pretty balanced team besides seth. I remember they made the playoffs and upset teams ranked higher than them. I believe it was St.Mary's not really sure. Also they have terrel that was in grade 11 last year. I'm not really sure who is going to be SCI top player next year. I've heard of Gerry, but other than that i don't know anyone else. They also have some of their grade 12s last year returning.

Silverthorn Collegiate
Silverthorn will be good this year. Last year everyone told us that we would be rebuilding year for us since we lost all our players since they were seniors but actually it seemed we got better cause we missed out on OFSAA by one game in which we lost to West Hill in the back door game for last spot in the OFSAA 4A championship in Windsor. This year we will have the core of our players returning such as our starting center denis who is going to grade 11 and jovan from our junior team. We may also get some transfer student who is really good, he couldnt player last year cause he came at the end of the season.

Re: Silverthorn Collegiate?
also add in nemanja, he didnt get to many minutes this year on senior because he was only in grade ten but at 6''5 he should be good next year. also we might receive some players from scarlett seeing as how they dont have a senior team and the good players are looking to transfer.
