    Much uproar on the hoopla.com
Appears that some former NEDA girls players are planning on staying in Hamilton to attend and play for St. Mary's high school. This would appear to be in conflict with OFSAA rules as these girls don't actually live in the area but that doesn't seem to matter.
There has been a call to boycott the team and any games against them from other schools.

It wouldn't conflict with any OFSAA rules for the following reasons:

    - OFSAA has no rules on where players can live while playing for a school, only if they have to sit out a year after transferring. Only school boards and individual principals can dictate who is permitted to attend a school. If they permit a student from outside their boundaries, OFSAA can do nothing to prevent them from playing, assuming they meet transfer requirements.

    - Since the players did not play sports at the interschool level over the previous 12 months, according to OFSAA definitions, they can play this coming season. That is the reason Rob Gagliardi was able to play at Pickering last year without sitting out.

I agree that it isn't fair but unless OFSAA passes a retroactive rule change, there is nothing they can do about it.

That may be true but I don't think anyone (OFSAA especially) could foresee this development. Having a massive influx of National Team players into one high school program makes it ridiculously lopsided for any other school. If this large number of players lived in the area with their families, that would be an anomoly but acceptable. Having players continue to live in Hamilton, while their parents are still elsewhere in the country, turns this particular high school into a prep school. The opinion is that they shouldn't be competing against regular high school teams anymore as there is no possible way they can compete. Those OFSAA gold medals mean nothing anymore. But there appears to be a rather convenient loophole here that they can slip through.
There is a call for all the Hamilton high schools to boycott their games against this team in protest. I don't know how this will turn out...should be interesting though Wink
