Post by Coach Clement Sun Nov 29, 2009 5:23 am

This was a highly competitive tournament and it was definitely a first-class operation by Coach Carlos Faria and his crew of helpers at Jean Vanier.

There were many great games at all levels and the Championship semi-finals with Jean Vanier outlasting a tough Martingrove squad and Mother Teresa going right to the final buzzer to pull out a 79-77 win over Barrie St Christopher led by stellar PG Mike Rocca with 37 points.

That was followed by Jean Vanier (Scarborough) winning 68-63 in overtime against Mother Teresa. Great game as mentioned by Coach Faria.

The consolation final was also good with Sacred Heart defeating a determined Jean Vanier (YorK) 51-47 in another great matchup.

Even the friendly games were highly competetive with first year school Maximillian Kolbe achieving their first-ever victory over St. Joseph's.

All in all a great tournament which is summarized above. Thanks again to Coach Faria for an ouitstanding job!

I think I stated a while back, after officiating a game with Jean Vanier that they have a very impressive Jr Squad. Very athletic and deep! By the score, looks like it was a nail bitting finale!!!

It was a close at the end but sacred is clearly the better team. They were up by 15 in the 1st quarter then sacred took off some of their key players and Jean Vanier came back; but Jean Vanier is still a good team, who dont give up
