How do you determine seeding for the play-offs?

In regards to seeding : Points Against for this tournament is the first tie-breaker, 2nd is points for, 3rd is point differential.

Does this mean that the team with the fewest points against gets the first seed? and so on?

    The points against were:

    Pope 33 (in 1 game)
    Joan of Arc 90
    Dunbarton 96
    Brampton Centennial 103
    West Hill 117

I am sorry but am I missing something? don't mean to be a pain in the neck.

I also do not mean to be a pain in the neck.... But is it safe to say, the wild cards were picked without point differential (which was the original tie breaker). Because Kipling had more points scored against with 1-1 record and a minus in +/-.... And one wild card team played ONE game???

    TOURNAMENT RULING:

"To determine seed #1-6 as well as the two Wild Cards the tournament committee will look at Pool Games (team record, points for/against, point differential)."

    Martingrove 1-1 (+19) 107 points against (2 games)
JV Jags 1-1 (-6) 82 points against (one game)
    Kipling 1-1 (-22) 146 points against (2 games)
    STL 1-1 (-22) 117 points against (2 games)
    St Roberts 1-1 (-12) 144 points against (2 games)

I don't doubt the hard work in the tournament, but how do we explain to players and parents that the proper format for a tie breaker was not followed to determine the wild card? according to the tiebreaker rule:

    wild cards: Martingrove and Jags

Considering I was at the tournament, the four teams that advanced into the championship round looked to me the most dominant. How they were seeded is another story, but I'm sure the conveyor will clear the air. Pretty solid tournament going on between the Double Blue and the FHC Tournament. As for the players in the 25+ that your looking for Rick, Brampton Centennial's Reece Brooks, St Robert's Parham Rahbar. The match ups today at the Double Blue will be interesting. Pope John II will be lead by Kemar Alleyne(U15 Team Ontario starter) and has a solid core in TJ Mullings, Jordan Hamilton. Joan of Arc is definitely a team on the rise but are young, with Devonte Campbell and Jordan Dixon-Keating leading the way. The match up with Dunbarton and West Hill will be competitive, as both teams have similar players and are athletic. West Hill is lead by Shallen Rhodes and Tyronne King, while Dunbarton has Cameron Creightney and Jamal Reasons. Pope looks really tough overall though. The other 3 are definite Top 16 to Honourable Mention caliber teams.

Looks like a some crazy scheduling issues... I heard Martingrove benched the starters in the second half against St. Joan of Arc. Seems like a bad coaching error to give up a chance to play in the championship bracket. How did they look, we play dem monday??

We at St Joan of Arc would just like to thank the host school Jean Vanier and Dr Fundamentals for a classy tournament. We managed to pull off a tough one against West Hill for the Bronze Medal game. I really want to tell the kids at Joan of Arc that they played well and deserved every win they had. The Pope game was an experience that the kids will have to go through. In my opinion Pope is easily a Top 5 if not 3 team. As for the Martingrove game, the lead was decent at the half(16 points). Its a long season and we are just excited to growing along with it. Again thanks for a great tournament with some solid teams.

The playoff seedings make no sense. I tried looking at it from both totals and per game average (to balance out the teams in groups of only 2 after the defaults) and it still didn't make sense. Coach Faria, could you please explain what happened?

Dunbarton would also like to thank both host schools for putting on a solid tournament with some great teams. We had the priviledge of playing two very good basketball teams today and our boys played hard in our win over West Hill, but we definately had our troubles in the final against a very, very strong Pope team. They are athletic, strong, and well rounded. We have played two tournament finals so far this season and I feel that Pope is equal, if not better than Vaughan who beat us in the Oshawa Classic.

Thanks again to Coach Faria and everyone at Jean Vanier and St. Theresa Lisieux.

Joan of Arc is a york regional team, and they will be good this year. They have some talented pieces and good coaching staff ( St Davids) they should be able to make top 16 this year. Its unfortunate they are not participating in bigger tournaments to really test their talents.

    Dunbarton Coach Deighan

"We have played two tournament finals so far this season and I feel that Pope is equal, if not better than Vaughan who beat us in the Oshawa Classic."

Haaa Calling out Vaughan. thats a good one Coach....its funny that you can t even comment that your own school is equal or better than Vaughan.

Well hopefully you will get your opportunity this weekend to face Vaughan
