why overlook jeffreys when theyve clearly beaten emery twice in season play and the last one including the north division finals?

Re: Sweet 16?
Obviously I can't do a Top 16 list since I'm the Coach at West Hill, but I would definitely say we are a team with a lot of talent in Adrian Tomlinson, Taylor Johnston, and Alex Athur along with some solid new players to add to the mix.
These predictions are definitely extremely speculative, and I agree with Coach Bob in his quote below:
"If I do not know about the team I coach how can I know about other teams in the GTA?
These threads are far too speculative and often its just people coming on and chest-pounding for their own school. Its a waste of time and effort!"
[/quote]
Just like him and other Coaches that I've spoken to, we don't even know how our teams will rank until we see our complete teams and how everyone looks in action and then match up with other top teams.
But ultimately, it's all about getting into the gym and competing.
Should be an interesting season, and I know there will be a lot of very tough and competitive teams in the GTA. I know I will not be underestimating anyone!!

Re: Sweet 16?
Actually that sixteen above looks pretty much like one I saw at the end of last season. It was posted after OFSSAA.
Coach thanks for the acknowledgement! I never post lists I just try to set kids right when their focus is too narrow.
How can you not be a contender? You've got an athletic PG who is as quick as anybody I can think of, a wing who is long and experienced and can shoot with the best of them and an athletic wing who can do it all and is one of the premier stars in the GTA.
How can that not add up to a top team? You are no #15 in my books!

Re: Sweet 16?
i agree with MT being number 1, they gunna have a big year this year.
personally i think pickering is ranked to high, they lost 2 of there key players, they have good players still, but not as good as the players they lost
campion is to low and dyouville is in the right spot after losin warren
i might be wrong, but its a long season and anything can happen
itll be a good year

Re: Sweet 16?
No one should take the Sweet 16 to seriously! It is all in fun. I'm glad that people are excited and passionate about GTA Basketball. It is opinion based and nothing more. Even Grossman once told me that there is nothing substantial about his weekly Top 10 basketball poll in the Toronto Star...it is just for fun and something he does just so people are taking about high school sports. You can't take any polls seriously because no one is truly analyzing each and every team that is in contention. However, the Hooptown GTA official poll is probably the most accurate out there. Slick Rick actually does go around and talks to coaches about their teams, key players, key lost players and transfer students before his post his preseason ranking.

Re: Sweet 16?
I agree 100%, that's what's great about this forum. It's all about creating excitement about Toronto Basketball and stimulating discussion.
Everybody should definitely have opinions because that makes it enjoyable and promotes GTA B-Ball, our teams and our players!!
It should be a great and competitive season for sure....
(thanks Coach Bob, I'll be watching you guys at Mother Theresa too Juniors and Seniors...)
Mother Theresa definitely looks extremely solid with a full returning core and Ashton Khan playing at a very high level.
With Pickering as back-to-back OFSAA Champs, they should never be underestimated, and Eastern Commerce has built one of the most Elite programs in Canada.
West Hill, Oakwood, Henry Carr and Martingrove should all be contenders too and I see a few other teams out there that should be very dangerous.
There should be a lot of great games this year and some very tough teams, I can definitely predict that!!

Re: Sweet 16?
West hill at #15? They lost a couple guys yes, but they should still be a threat and will surprise a lot of people this year.
Pickering will be the team too beat again this year everyone thought they were done but have picked up a lot of key transfer in Rob Gagliardi, Troy Joseph, and others.
As for HM and teams too look out for I think C.W. Jefferies has a lot of talented young players that can perform at a high level.
Pope John Paul II look like a solid team this year and should be a top GTA team with a lot size and a lot of young players that played for Ontario over the summer with key transfers like Negus Webster-Chan and Dimitri Sanderson, they will be on the rise this season.
Season is right around the corner and should be an interesting one.

Re: Sweet 16?
I did not say they are a top GTA team I said as for HM they should be there instead of the 15 spot where they have them ranked at they do have a couple talented players and can play. As for Pope yes the ontario players they do have play junior and heard a couple are playing Senior.

Re: Sweet 16?
Hey, like I said BoomSUS, it's better to be underrated than overrated!
It's understandable with a new Coach and many new players being added to the fold that there are question marks....
I'm definitely looking forward to a great season, and only time will tell how things unfold.
There will for sure be many tough teams in the GTA this year, but I have confidence that we will be one of them!
Thanks for the positive wishes, should be an exciting year....

Re: Sweet 16?
When you look at some of the lists of teams you really have to see that MT is ahead of the pack. Eastern Commerce might be #2. How can you count out teams like Henry Carr, West Hill, Pickering, and d'youville? Each of these teams have proven they play at a higher level on a more consistent basis than the rest of the GTA.
Do any of these teams have legitimate transfers?

Please do not confuse that Coach Bob with this Coachbob.
I would never put MT #1 until they win a gold medal at OFSSAA.
