Michelle Asare (Ascension) is on a tear. She's scored 29 pts her first game, 25 pts her second, and 28 pts vs. Mount Carmel.

Looking forward to the final day of the tournament.
I'm hoping for a Pope John Paul vs. Pine Ridge consolation final.
The championship semis, bronze medal, and gold medal games should be great.

the Aquanisvs Ascension game should be a good one to watch, speaking that Ascension won against them once and there is still one more league play
i was quite surprised at the Campion pope game, anybody watch that what happened?
and Michelle Asare is deinfinatly showing her skills and so is Christine Hyde ive never had to chance to see her play this tournament but i'll be glad to see her tomorrow, and see how the two work
Pine ridge st Francis game is one to watch as well fight for broze seems like a neck and neck thing

best Lady Rimrocker by far Very Happy hopefully the boys rimrocker will be as deep

    Aquinas-Ascension will be insane...

very difficult to contain Michelle and Christine but Aquinas is athletic enough to do it...

D'Youville should beat Campion, but Campion will want to show better considering how the last game at Sheridan Cup turned out (25 pt win for D-Y)

St. Francis has no one to stop Whitney and not sure how they will handle Pine Ridge's pressure...

Don't be surprised if St. Joe's gives Pope a great game..darkhorse special...

Pine Ridge-Pope would be such a great contrast in styles....

Christine Hyde is for sure not going 100% after sitting on the stand and a player from the opposing team hyper extended her knee by boxing her out in the air, she let up which was very smart, i think she should just take it easy because i would not want her to get hurt b4 she goes to texas tech, clearly the most succesful. also after speacking with her she said "michelle can have all the shine she wants if u play well people recongnize it, plus this is my year to relax im taking it easy b4 i go its all fun to me" amazing player, humble person basketball always briings out the best or worst in people but clearly brings the best out of this particular player Smile

Post by Xavier Rimrocker Sun Oct 19, 2008 12:43 pm

Some comments about this year's tournament:

This was definitely the best Lady Rimrocker in the six years it has been held. The top 10-12 teams were all very competitive, something that is rare in girls basketball tournaments outside of Hamilton. Hopefully, we will continue to attract top teams and perhaps even draw a few of the top teams from outside the GTA, especially Hamilton and southwestern Ontario.

The quality of basketball was amazing. I wish we had more space on our all-star team as there were at least a dozen players who really stood out. The hardest choice was choosing between Michelle and Christine. If Ascension had made the final, both of them would have been easy choices for the team. I was also impressed at the number of quality grade 11s on some teams; the future looks bright.

A special thanks to the many student volunteers at both Xavier and Carmel. They did an excellent job of scoring, timing, cleaning, admissions, preparing Gatorade and the most important job f all: Going next door to get coffee for the convener. ;-)

Thank you to all the coaches and players for their fine words about the tournament and the support of the students, athletics and administration at the two schools.

Tournament conveners: If you want a simple idea that makes a big difference to the coaches, try pre-printed game sheets with the tournament logo. Rob Tucci came up with the idea for our tournament and made the arrangements. We were amazed at how often coaches raved about his idea.

Speaking of Rob Tucci, I want to make sure everyone knows what a valuable role he plays in all three Rimocker tournaments. I am lucky enough to have the support of people like Dave Tucci, Lyanda Jacksion and Gagan Seron at Xavier but Rob pretty much runs the show on his own at Carmel. Without Rob, there's no Carmel venue and without Carmel, there's no Rimrocker.

One big pet peeve revolves around admissions. Based on the reactions of some people, both students and adults, one would think we were asking for your their-born child rather than $2 to help defray some of the many costs that are associated with the tournament. I always feel bad for my volunteers when they devote long days and evenings to the tournament and they receive verbal abuse from far too many people at the admission table in return. I wish people would ask themselves where else they can enjoy this much entertainment each evening for only two dollars and also why the fee is charged before they choose to take out unwarranted frustration on student volunteers.

Now everyone will take a much deserved breather before we move on to the Senior and Junior Rimrockers. The line-ups for both tournaments are almost set and I will post them in the coming weeks once everything is finalized.

Thanks to all the coaches, student-athletes, managers, referees, and fans involved in this year's tournament. Good luck in the upcoming playoffs.
