Great Event! Any idea that can raise money and awareness for Haiti is truly something significant at this point in time.
Also, that Henry Carr vs. J Clarke match up should settle things until OFSAA. I'm sure that will be quite the rematch and much anticipated by both teams and fans alike. The East (Durham) vs. West (Toronto) concept is appealing as well....if you had Oakwood in there instead of Vaughn..you would have a total Toronto vs. Durham....East Side vs. West Side event from top to bottom. Regardless, I hope it is well attended so that as much money as possible can be donated to the Hait Relief Effort.

I think they should put a dunk off or three point compettion somewhere in there just my opinion I think that would definately bring more donations...thought I let that idea float in the atmosphere

I agree a dunk off would be quite interesting indeed.

Why didn't you guys invite Loyola, instead of a team like Notre Dame? You are making this stacked tournament and all you needed was to add Loyola and then they would either shut up or put by playing Carr and Richardson. Loyola guy talks a lot on this board, tell him to get his team to this tourney.

    Update!

    1. This is NOT a tournament.....just 6 exhibition games!
    2. Since it is in Durham, obviously every game will feature a Durham team
    3. We were supposed to play Vaughan early in the year in an exhibition game, but could not find a date, that is why I invited Vaughan. Make no mistake, they are an excellent team, and still part of the GTA!!
    4. I am considering including a slam dunk contest and 3pt shootout....both great ideas.....have to see if it is feasible.

Please remember.....this is totally for HAITI RELIEF.

Shavon Miller didn't play because he injured his elbow and shoulder earlier in the week. He is kind of day to day right now. Hopefully, he'll be ready when the opening round of playoffs start this Thursday.

I don't know the high scorers, but, Mother Teresa beat Notre Dame(Ajax) by a score of 70-57. Alot of people were really impressed by Notre Dame. They are not getting the same recognition as J Clarke, Pickering or even Pine Ridge, however, they played well. They look like a dangerous team and could upset easily upset someone in the playoffs if a team is off their game.

In the last game, Vaughn beat Pickering by six points. Vaughn was up by 20 points at the half....I believe the score was 38-18 at half. Pickering went really small..(Kaza, Natiel, Asher, Rowan, Jevon and cut into the lead by the end of 3rd...60-45. They put on the typical Pickering fourth quarter run but Vaughn held on in the end for a good win.
Does anyone know why MiKyle Macintosh was not there? Why didn't Haboubacar Mutombo play?

word is that Mikyle was in the states. Not sure why Haboubacar wasn't playing,

But with these results what do the rankings look like?
    Carr back to #1?
Pine Ridge makes a jump?(big wins over eastern and vaughn earlier in the week)
Vaughn gets a little further ahead with a win over a mikyle-less pickering squad?

I totally forgot to mention the real purpose of this whole event....not the basketball itself but raising money for the Haiti Earthquake Relief Effort. The event raised close to $4000 which is absolutely fantastic. Gordo, Farley Flex and all the Pickering High School vounteers did an excellent job putting on this basketball event. It was well attended and an overwhelming success. Congratulations!!!!! The basketball Community in the GTA maybe can take a page out of the NBA book and do more things in the area of charity and community service. Special thanks also to the referees who officiated all the games without their usual pay and just volunteered their time.

I'm not absolutely sure about our first round match up. The playoffs start this Thursday and we can potentially face Ajax, Clarington Central or St. Marys. Pine Ridge should be focused this year....last year they got upset by St. Mary's in the 1st round, quarter-finals...many of the players were apart of that defeat so it will serve as motivation and a reminder not to take anyone lightly.
