Jamal is goooooooood. Pine Ridge can't be the same team without him. Did'nt Bramalea win tier 2 last year? do they have all grade 9's or sumthin? because that might explain why they still in tier 2.

Jamal Reynolds played in the Pickering junior game last week. He was instrumental in the 63-57 upset win over Pickering. However, since that game he has been moved up to the Pine Ridge Senior Boys team and will no longer be playing for the Junior team. He's the starting point guard on the senior team and has lead them to recent victories over # 7 Vaughn and #8 Eastern Commerce. Since he's played 3 league games at the senior level, he is no longer eligible to play Junior Basketball. He's a great junior player...a difference maker......and he's playing well on the senior team as well....he has stabilized things with the seniors.

Bramalea is a good team! They are well coached and really athletic as well. They deserve some credit. It would have been nice if Pine Ridge and Bramalea played a week ago when Pine Ridge had the same line up as when they faced Pickering High. Jamal Reynolds and their two starting forwards would have helped them today at the tournament.

Post by Coach Miles Sun Feb 14, 2010 8:29 am

I would like to thank all the teams that participated in our 1st Annual Campion Junior Showdown.

Some things that stuck out in my mind:

    - Congrats Twin Lakes from Orillia surprising everyone in the tournament and winning it all. They had a great floor General Mitch Farrell who controlled the pace of all their games and pushed each of his players to play hard.

    - Bramalea for competing hard in our tournament and pushing Gonzaga into overtime but eventually losing it at the end. If any consolation can be taken away from this loss, is that they can compete amongst many of the top teams in Peel Tier 1 and many good GTA teams. People criticize our Campion Juniors loss to them earlier on in the season without realizing how good Bramalea was.

    - Pine Ridge was indeed short players in our tournament which affected their play but I can see how they can be a fine team with the addition of Jamal Reynolds (I was told not likely now), we wish PR juniors good luck in the playoffs

    - Unfortunately, I did not get to see Iroquois Ridge from Oakville as they were competing at the LEGER site, but I hear from the other coaches that they were pretty strong.

    - I am proud of our boys (CAM "A") and (CAM "B") for competing very well in our tournament, it was a great opportunity to split our team up (as one team drop out of the tournament) and have ALL of our boys to get a tune-up before the playoffs. CAM "A" got a great opportunity to see and compete against Gonzaga, one of the strongest teams in Peel south before playoffs. It was a great game played by both teams, with GON down by one with 1 with 7 seconds left, then hitting a rushed last second three point shot, the game could have went either way. Congrats to GON to making it all they way to the finals, they have two awesome guards: Myles Charvis and Marcus Hanson

    - Overall, I think all the teams got what they came for, good competition and tune-up before playoffs and CAMPION JUNIOR BOYS BASKETBALL is thankful and appreciative of all the teams that came out to our tournament

    Omar,

Thanks for expanding the field and giving us (Pine Ridge) an opportunity to play in the tournament. It was a great experience for the players...especially since a lot of teams are really on their game right before playoffs. There was great energy and intensity in many of the games I witnessed...in particular on the defensive end....that is not usually the case in many junior basketball games.

Another congrats should go to Iroquois Ridge H.S. (Oakville)
for competing hard throughout the whole tourney and probably coming up with the upset of the day by beating Jean Vanier... a previous top 10 team in GTA.

Also does anyone have the leading scorers of the final game. I'm wondering because i heard Gonzaga's 2 main contributers (Myles and Marcus) were sidelined ALOT throughout this game because of cramping issues(a buzzer beater game, 2 OT game, and then Final in 1 day can do that to an athlete).

So i wanted to know who stepped in to keep them close becasue this game was not a blow out by the looks of it.

Same way Loyola from Oakville can beat city teams in senior, sometimes individual talent and ability aren't everything and its a team game.

Twin Lakes can beat GTA teams because they are good enough....LOL...Talent and performance have nothing to do with geography and where you are from....you either good enough, talented enough or simply you're not. I went to school in the states and the Americans said the same thing about all the Canadian athletes excelling. How can these Canadians outperform Americans?.....They are talented!!!!

First off "u beat us by like 4" dont know who you talking about but my team was not there.

" how r we hiding in tier 2 if the coach choses the tier" you answer your own question. The coach have the team playing in tier 2 is not hiding?LOL because you gave gonzaga a run you are competition.Come up to seniors tier 1 next season then talk about competition.

My only regret is that I was not there to witness some of this first hand!

You are contributing to the game in a very big way, Coach!
