This should be the most wide open OFSAA in some time. It's also a shame to see that some quality teams will not be there. (e.g. St. Thomas More who could have been #1 seed if they had won the city title instead of being upset by BT; the two Notre Dames from Ajax and Burlington, and Louis Riel which, despite winning AAA last year, decided to stay at AAA) Is there a case to be made for 18 teams like their male counterparts at the AAAA level?

After #1 seed, which will definitely be St. Mary's, things could be interesting. An argument could be made for any of St. John's, St. Anne, and Pope John Paul II at #2, though I suspect PJP will be 4th and the other two 2 and 3.

5th will probably be Bishop Tonnos, though they might flip with PJP at 4th, with the next group including Waterloo and the top GTA teams: Pickering, Campion, Eastern, Bill Crothers, and Thompson in approximately that order with Waterloo mixed in their somewhere. Westdale and Michael Power should be next and then Glebe and ND Brampton. I can't see St. Joseph being anything other than #16.

    Quarter-finals
    St. Mary 66 Waterloo 29
John Paul II 69 Westdale 38
    Bishop Tonnos 46 M.Power/St.Joseph 31
    St. John's 49 St. Anne 29

    Semi-Finals
St. Mary 55 John Paul II 40
    Bishop Tonnos 41 St. John's 37

    Bronze Final
    John Paul II 55 St. John's 54

    Gold Final
St. Mary 58 Bishop Tonnos 47

Campion defeated Pickering in the consolation final (for the 8 teams knocked out in the second round) 47-38.

No doubt where the strength was this year. Hamilton Catholic #1 and 2 in Ontario and many would argue that St. Thomas More was at least as good as the Bishop Tonnos team that upset them in the league semi-finals. That gives the league at least the three best teams in the province. Talk about dominance!
