We even had a couple of coaches who emailed me after I sent the details to Rick.

Unfortunate but I'm thrilled that there were actually 20 responses. Outstanding!

Hamilton schools are not part of the GTA so it will not be included in the standings.

They have not been included so far and will not be in future. This is just as with the Sr. Super Sixteen.

Wow, that sounds very sketchy. Hamilton is closer to Toronto than New market or Oshawa, but you don't want to consider Hamilton based teams? Are we not one basketball family? Toronto coaches try to recruit Hamilton kids for their teams all the time, they tell them that it's only a 30 minute drive, but on the other hand you won't include them in your unofficial rankings. I would suggest that most of the coaches that participate in your poll have seen MacNab play and can acurately assess their ranking, you should reconsider the very weak argument that you've given above.

According to Goggle Maps: Newmarket is 55km and 47min from T.O., Oshawa is 62km and 49min and Hamilton is 70km and 1hour away from Toronto.

Hamilton based schools are not included in the rankings because they are not part of the Greater Toronto Area (Halton, Peel, York, Toronto, & Durham). This is not the top 16 in Ontario, it is the top 16 in the GTA.

    Wikipedia:
"As of early 21st century, the regional span of the Greater Toronto Area has been extended to include the city of Hamilton Ontario and its surrounding region"

This is 2011, we are 11 years into the 21st century.

Hamilton is also included in the GTA when it comes to Canadian & world census data and publications.

According to MapQuest, drive times from Toronto:
    Newmarket 41 minutes
    Oshawa 45 minutes
    Hamilton 48 minutes

Let's start including Hamilton in these discussions.

MacNabb should be #1? With all those losses, how can that be possible? Enjoy the victory, they earned it, but come back down to reality. Play Carr 10 times, you will not beat them twice. You are making MacNabb look bad. Can only hope you are a parent and not one of the coaches.

It is a ranking for the GTA and Hamilton is not in the GTA. What is weak about that argument?

It could not be more cut-and-dried. Why not include Sarnia St. Christopher or Windsor Forster or London Beal or Ottawa St. Pats?

Its for the same reason - they are not in the GTA.

Why not start a poll for an Ontario ranking compile the results and publish them on the "Outside the GTA" board?

I note that you cut the sentence short. It continues on to read "As of early 21st century, the regional span of the Greater Toronto Area has been extended to include the city of Hamilton Ontario and its surrounding region to form the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area"

Wikipedia can be famously unreliable but even it acknowledges that Hamilton is a separately named entity. Complain if you wish but it's not weak to limit the poll to schools from Toronto, Peel,m York, Durham, and Halton; those are the municipalities that officially make up the GTA.

Hamilton is also included in the GTA when it comes to Canadian & world census data and publications.

No, it's not. Stats Canada does not include Hamilton in the Toronto CMA.

McNabb knows there #1 or #2, why do they need a poll to tell then that? Hamilton teams (At JR & SR) know they can compete with GTA teams, whats the difference in the long run?
