Looks like the Spurs in signing TJ Ford have him in mind for backing up Parker...news out of camp has Corey heading D-League...still hasn't hit the floor due to visa issues with lockout delay. afro

Think this could be the beginning of the end...can't name too many D-leaguers that resurface in the NBA...this year's draft is gonna be rich with talent...with so many guys staying in school last year and a fresh crop coming through I think you are going to see a lot of top shelf palyers in this year's second round even...Corey could become an afterthought. Your thoughts Petro???

It's possible... he might never establish himself and the pick might end up being a bust for San Antonio. There have been many busts in the lottery - let alone a late first rounder.

But for now... the Spurs are a team going for a championship... and that door is closing fast on them.

Fact is Cory is young and inexperienced... and as it stands at this very moment... TJ FOrd will help them win a championship moreso than Cory could. In the same breath, this could be very different come three months from now.

Without a true training camp and not having the availability of the facilities to train at all summer and the coaches to properly prep him for his first year in the NBA - the D-league is the best choice for Cory.

It takes the pressure off... let's him develop at a more comfortable pace.

Buford and Pops know how to scout talent and for them to take Cory first round says a lot about his potential.

Kid has great leadership abilities - extremely high BBall IQ - he ran that Texas team last year like a senior... and that's what they saw and admired... on top of that he is very coachable... moreso than TJ!!!

With a draft very thin on talent last year...they took what was available...had there been no lockout spectre I think that he would have been lucky to get drafted had everyone come out that could have.

He would've stayed at Texas for another year probably two if there was no looming lockout... which I had hoped for.

He and Myck woulda made a great duo... along with Brown.

He took advantage/risk of what was in front of him... and it paid off for the short term.

I guess you called right! He got sent down to the Austin Toros of the D league yesterday. He will get a lot more playing time and a much better opportunity to develop his skills

Cory is a hard worker, I am confident he can play at the NBA level. This move will help him to get better!

Just saw on Twitter Cory is back with the Spurs.

Cory Joseph is back with the Spurs after it was announced TJ Ford will be out 4-6 weeks with a hamstring injury. http://projectspurs.com/2012-articles/january/joseph-back-in-with-spurs-ford-out-4-6-weeks.html.

well that was last year... Cory went back and forth but finally established himself as the back up to Parker and played excellent spot minutes for the Spurs in the playoffs.

Lots of work still to do - but he will do it and will continue to improve
