Henry Carr @ The Motor City Roundball Classic

Coming off a 2nd place finish at the Publix Challenge (Kreul Classic), the Henry Carr Crusaders will play three showcase games at the Motor City Roundball Classic hosted by Detroit Country Day School:

Wednesday, December 28th - vs Flint Goodrich (one of the better teams in the Flint-ara)
Thursday, December 29th - vs Detroit Pershing (#1 in Class A in Detroit)
Friday, December 30th - vs Harper Woods Chandler Park (JR guard Derrick Walton committed to Michigan)

DCDS is a private school in Beverly Hills, Michigan; and is the alma mater of several NBA and NFL pros, namely Shane Battier (Duke) and Chris Webber (Michigan). It truly is a phenomenal facility.

Pershing 76 (Martez Walker 23, Veyon Bentley 15)

Pershing is one of the strongest programs in Michigan and currently the #1 Class "A" team. They simply outplayed us in every aspect of the game especially on the boards. We were down early but settled down to tie it at 20. They outscored us 37-17 in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. A good learning experience for us.

Great job FHR.Did you see Romulus play.Heard they were ranked in the top 5o USA by ESPN.How would they stack up against Pershing in your opinion.

Thank you. Romulus is very good. Saw them win a close one over Chicago Hyde Park. Romulus-Pershing would be an intense match up.

Just found this. On Dec 11th, when Romulus was #1, Pershing defeated them 67-52. Pershing was led by Martez Walker with 23, and Sherron Dorsey Walker with 15, who will be a freshman at Iowa State next year.

Good to see canadian teams doing well down south. Carr, Eastern, West Humber and Herman are all at this tourny (from the website).

Harper Woods Chandler Park Academy is an athletic team that features junior guard Derrick Walton, who has committed to the University of Michigan.

Henry Carr led the entire game except for one possession in the first half. A very strong team effort behind Tre Boutilier's 22 pts & 7 rebounds and Tramique Sutherland's 19 pts & 6 assists. Shane Osayande also had 4 big blocks for the Crusaders and Tramique had the difficult task of defending Michigan commit Derrick Walton for most of the game. Walton scored a game high 30 pts. He is almost unstoppable going coast to coast, and is able to finish in traffic and with body to body contact.

Carr was up 14 late in the game, only to see the lead whittled to two points. Tre then hit both ends of one and one to seal the win.
