there is no delcaring 1,2,3 if there is no OFSAA but if Carr won Metros then yes the are 1# Plus the historical season as I now understand puts an exclamation to the point.

lbj23, my point is not to win you over. My point is this...

The Carr coaches and I were just having this discussion. Why is it that when a Carr team does well, there is no discussion about it, no hype? And I am not trying to toot my horn, as I do not coach either Carr A or Carr B. But the coaches, Mike Falloon & Devon Thompson (Carr A) and Tony McIntyre & Dave Renaud (Carr B), and players of both teams work very hard, not just to develop basketball skills but to develop the whole person. The student athletes are not perfect and they will make mistakes both on the court and in life.

I don't understand why you would say, "there is no way that Carr A is number 1". They are undefeated and have beaten all the other top teams. They have beaten every team they have played. No doubt in many people's mind that they are #1. But why the resistance to proclaim them #1 and give them a little shine?

It is no secret that there are certain coaches at certain schools that dislike Carr basketball. Maybe they just dislike me, I am not sure. A case in point is the surprsing number of teams that dropped out of the Salsberg Jr Tournament.

I am not trying to win your adoration or thanks for "making schools like Runnymede and Carr great basketball schools". They were both great schools long before I ever arrived. I was just one person that contributed.

I think we all need to give credit where it is due, regardless of the school, team, coach, player, etc.

Lastly, a tournament the size and caliber of an OFSAA tournament is very expensive. It costs upwards of $4000 to send a team to OFSAA. That is the biggest reason there is no Jr OFSAA.

alright alright carr is the best team they've shown it i think people are just saying they want to see carr face vaughan or pickering one more time since both teams have changed up and then theres people that just dont wanna see henry carr on top in my opinion any of those three teams and maybe pope can be number one they are all capable of beating eachother on a given day. its not more carr is the best hands down but more carr has consistanly shown they are hungry and refuse to loose . if u look at them its not that they have more talent then the other 2 or 3 teams or more size they just compete when a challendge comes their way

I don't have a favourite team nor do I hate on any team. I just stated an analogy that didn't go well earlier. Just making this clear.

My mistake simple touch5....I completely forgot about Vaughan..playing without Cy and having 2 CLOSE games. But teams are yet to the point wrong. Has ANYONE beaten them this whole year at all?

I agree completely that Vaughan (with our without Cy) and Pickering are right up there. However, Cy playing or not is irrelevant, since we do not control who plays the game and injuries are part of the game. On another note, have you ever wondered how strong Carr A would be if we took the top 6 Carr B players and added them to the top 6 Carr A players to make one team?

probably stronger in terms od depth but maybe weaker in terms of experiance and mental errors as newby's they bring to the game and that whole cy thing is w.e i was not cdomplaining about that im juss saying any team can beat any top 3 team carr has only beat them by single digits and your rigth coach u cant control who is or whos not playing.but my point is carr is the best team on paper for sure i mean they havnt lost but i would just like to see them play vaughan and pickering agian

That would be a VERY strong team. Is that the main reason as to why there is an A and B team at Carr? Because there wouldnt be enough playing time to divi up?

Im sure you will enjoy having that roster in 2 years.

I think combining the top 6 from each team would make for a stronger team.

Yes, the theory behind having A and B teams is to let the players on both teams develop and give as many student athletes the opportunity to play. Having two teams means 30 spots not 15.

    Coach Melnik

You bring across very strong points and with no doubt can't be argued. By all means I agree that Your program again has done well and the coaches and Admin Staff deserve alot of credit for this success. But i do remember my Coach out of New Jersey who always tells me, even up last week when we spoke on the phone, When you are number 1 - they all come at you, no matter what they look for simplistic things to make you not number 1. You Student Athletes and Coaches deserve respect and shine

On the other hand; The Salsberg Tournament

I think its been handled by too many hands in which the tournament has lost its forum and meaning, and I think this year they were trying to sell it back to the Toronto region, but as time has past, we are seeing every region build and they are knocking out teams for Toronto, So to make comment that it Cost too much, well is it not well deserving for the Boys to be rewarded at the end, it may not have the same OFFSA appearance but the Idea and meaning behind it is amazing. I am surprised that you are staying very neutral to the topic or i could be assuming this. I guess the bottom line is everyone feels in order to be number 1 lets put all the top doggs in one tournament and battle it out!

Jr Boys basketball is exactly like the BCS (football) championship game in the states. There are no head to head match-ups that can totally "prove" what team is number 1. Of the top 4 teams any team can beat any team on any given day. And saying that, since we do not have a tourny format like OFSAA Carr A is the TOP team in GTA, Congrats on a great season!
