Re: Sheridan Cup Senior Girls Tournament
A pair of three-point shots in the fourth quarter helped two Panthers from different ends of the GTA in come-back wins at their respected tournaments.
At the Hoopdome Invitational, the Panthers from Pope John Paul in Scarborough were trailing the entire game vs. league rivals Michael Power, until Shanice McKoy hit a three-pointer with two minutes remaining in the game to give Pope John Paul it's first lead. McKoy's three-pointer helped to close out a nail-biter game with Pope winning the Hoopdome Invitational 38-36.
An hour later at the Sheridan Cup, the #1 team in the GTA, the d'Youville Panthers from Brampton, found themselves in a tight final against the Ascension Eagles. Led by Christine Hyde with 16 first half points, the Eagles took a 20-17 lead into half-time. It looked like the Eagles were about to complete the upset victory by knocking off the #1 team as they took a 5 point lead going into the fourth quarter. However, tournament MVP Symone Murray (d'Youville) hit a three-pointer early in the fourth which started a 30 point output from the Panthers and blew the game wide open with a 55-37 win. Tournament MVP Symone Murray scored 14 points in the fourth quarter and finished with a team high 21 points, and Naana Ankoma-Mensa with her good defensive play & hustle finished with 11 points. Christine Hyde (Ascension) who recently committed to Texas Tech, electrified a near packed Sheridan crowd with 29 points while dominating the boards on both ends of the court.

Re: Sheridan Cup Senior Girls Tournament
Their school population last year was 733.
Quite a few top schools are smaller than what they play. I believe that Carr, Eastern Commerce, and Mother Teresa are all AA size.

Re: Sheridan Cup Senior Girls Tournament
AAAA is full of powerhouse teams from outside the GTA (though perhaps not as many this year), whereas AAA or AA might provide Ascension with a better opportunity to win a medal.
