I think this was the first game St. Augustine actually lived up to their potential. I've seen these guys play, this exact team pretty much in 2007. They have all got a lot better, especially their starters. Not to mention the addition of a returning gr. 12 big who should have a strong year.

Its unfortunate they fell into tier two, but watch out, they'll roll through tier 2.

Yesterday East zone cross over, St. Augustine 62, Markville 30. The score was 30 to 10 at half time. St. Augustine bench play the 2nd half. One of St. Augustine starter No. 4 was injured, was out for 3 weeks, he's back.

Was the Vaughn/Bill Crothers playoff game a quarter final or semi final match up? When and where is the York Region final taking place? If Vaughn and Dennison are playing in the final again, I would love to see that match up.

    Vaughan beat St. Theresa 72-24
    Denison beat Woodbridge 95-68

This is what everyone expected and the teams expected. Is a 48 point win discouraging for York Region, massive gap between the top 2 teams and everyone else. Every league outside of the YRAA their seems to be a deeper talent pool spread out throughout the region. This can't be good for York Region Basketball.

Yeah the games were even more lopsided at one point last night basketball_atr! Denison blew it open from the first 4 minutes or so in the first quarter and Kevin Pangos just cruised the rest of the way. Woodbridge tried to single man press him which is futile because of his change of speed ability and his subtle head fakes and moves to get the defender off-balance. I have no doubt that KP as I call him will be successful
at the next level! Darnell Landon poured in 24 for Woodbridge. He's a good young player who has a bright future at the CIS level.
The Vaughan game was never in doubt as well as the #1 Ranked team(Hooptown GTA) came out with fire on defence...smothering the St. Theresa guards and then running out on fast breaks.

Yes the gap has been HUGE this season between the top 2 teams and the rest of the squads in York Region but I see some talent there. Next year there will be no Pangos and probably no Wiggins who's most likely heading to prep school Stateside so the league should be more competitive. It's really up to the players...Do they want to improve? Are they working on their games all the time? Are they thinking basketball 24/7? Are they full of pride and toughness?
York Region is going to have to step up because the other regions are improving despite the exodus of players south of the border!

Hey Yorkregionballer I hope you didn't take what I said as a slight! I am a York Region cat myself...played at Langstaff and Bayview and lived in Thornhill for a long time so I know what the area is capable of! I want the Region to be tops but truthfully those two teams were head and shoulders above the rest of the squads so next year will be crucial and I hope for big things for York Region!
    All the best to you!
